I would not plan ANY tenative date until you get that visa in your hot little hands! Plans being scrapped is almost as depressing as the wait times. RFE's, translated documents, police reports...there are so many snags that could happen that would upset any date you've planned. Remember, you have six months to use the visa, then 3 months after entering before having to get married (oops 90 days, not 3 months). Either way, that should give you plenty of time to plan something. Do a search for people that have put serious money down and planned weddings, that didn't dissolve due to embassies and consulates that weren't within the usual timelines. Best to wait...can't stop you from internet looking...dreaming...planning...just don't plan a day!

Believe those of us who have gone through this, seen it first hand and paid attention to what has happened around us. ANYTHING can happen in between now and the time you get your visa in your hands. And, don't even think once you've been approved it will guarentee a time. I've seen visa delivery delayed for such crazy things as natural disasters.

I will tell you every single time someone asks, DO NOT make wedding plans until you are sure you have that visa in hand.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

For example, after my fiancee was approved for her visa, the embassy's special visa printers broke... They could not print the visa... Set our plans back only about a week though.

I know people who have had theirs lost between the embassy and the delivery place.

I know people who have had a hurricane batter the embassy.....they were in limbo for almost a month.

I know people who have been told their visa was not approved, when they got the approval at their interview.

And, that's just after approval. There are a million reasons for delays before the actual interview.

Never, ever anything concrete. I've seen lots of people burned with non-refundable plans.

So after reading this, how are people with pending cases supposed to sleep at night? :(

Everyone deals with something unexpected. You survive it.

The thing is, this process is so expensive as it is. Why add more heaches by putting down payments on some date you just aren't positive on?
