Hi fellow VJ's,

I am trying to get everything ready to send my husband's AOS packet. The only thing that I am doubting is on the following:

I am a College student, and I have never filed a tax return before because I have always worked for my father in he never paid me, (he supports me, that's more than enough :) ).

I started my first "official job" on January, and so I have no proof of income as of this year.

My question is, can my father be the only sponsor for my husband? Do I (as the spouse) have to be the sponsor, or joint sponsor; eventhough I have no documents to prove my income?

Please help me out!!!!!!!

You and your father will both fill out I-864 forms. I suspect if you started a real job in January then you have pay stubs as evidence of your current income or can get a letter from your employer stating your year to date income. You can state your current income as an annualization of your hourly, weekly or monthly income if not stated as annual in an offer letter etc.

You would fill out an I-864 even if your income was zero.

Also, you can attach a letter of unemployment explanation (because you were full time student) I think that this can help you a lot. You can attach an employment letter too. And yes, you -like petitioner- must file an I-864 too aside you have a co-sponsor.

Good luck
