exactly!! My wife fel in love with it one trip to Canada, but never actually never got to try it out until I moved down here. We attended a open house at a local rink, she really respected it after that!!

Aye, my husband thought I was goofy for liking it until he sat down and paid attention to a game during the last Olympics. He loves the intricacies of figuring out the curl and the angles versus where you want the rocks to go and end up. When we move back to Canada, we'll try out a rec league or something

I totally mocked it until I was visiting my then-boyfriend during the Brier. While he worked I watched, been mildlly obsessed ever since. I never was in Canada the whole winter so couldn't curl in a league, but a group of fairly serious curling friend would rent a sheet every couple of months and we'd all play for a morning. sooo much fun. We definitely want to join a league when we move back to Canada. There is only one public rink in Albuquerque, they have the ice painted for curling but haven't actually set the hacks yet. We have a standing challenge with one of the other labs in the dept. to have a curl-off as soon as they open.

my Ex-boss's son played for the Alberta team last year. im not sure if he played again this year. I watch curling from time to time.. my wife thinks its the dumbest thing to watch lol

Another benefit of curling it is a very social game--take ur beer out to the sheet, and best of all, it stays cold!!

I can understand that, from someone that didn't got the "curling revelation" it still look like a bunch of people having fun with brooms... (oops i said it)

Men's final is over. Alberta wins - great game and it is a great game. Like chess on ice, only you can't just put your chess piece where you want, you have to throw it there. It takes both intrecate strategy and effective execution. Great game.

Curling itself is a wonderful game, but I have to disagree about last nights game being great! And it was not the fault of the curlers, but more so due to the ice not being up to par, it caused a lot of picks and the curlers were unsure what the hel to expect on each shot,lol They talked to the ice maker--forget his name, but he is like the worlds best---and due to the extra people in attendance he had to put on an extra air condenser, to make the building cooler! So that affected the ice and they were finding a lot of debris, and one announcer suggested that maybe there were debris coming out of the vents that had not been previously used!! But each team played under the same conditions. As well Ontario wasn't too happy with Morris--Alberta's Third--- Guess after he throws he leaves his hands on the ice,which of course melts it a bit and leaves a flat spot. If ya have never been on curling ice, it is not flat like a hockey rink, but has pebbles. Lets hope Martin doesn't choke at Worlds. He has never faired exceptionally well when it comes to them. never won it and a silver at the Olympics.

This topic reminds me of the Paul Gross / Leslie Nielsen movie Men With Brooms I saw it in high school and have wanted to give it a sweep since.
