:crying: I'm getting fussed at by Abdel because he just walked in and caught me reading VJ instead of my economics textbook. You guys are really much more interesting, but I still have about 100 pages to read today so I guess I should sign off. He's putting his hand over my eyes so I can't see the screen now so I guess I'm out of here...........

My husband is shocked! Acording to him, "All of Morocco likes bstilla!"

Well, what if you tell him that at the sheep holiday "Aid al adha" , I go out looking for a sandwich since i dont eat the "kebda"

Are you serious? This has to be a first for me!

Its that one ingredient that spoiles it. its one of the spices they add to the suffing, & i just cant swollow it.

Thanks for mentioning mahshy, Jean. It reminded me I wasnted to try out the bstilla recipe today! Gotta get to the grocery store soon. I think it might be an all day project!

I made bstilla last Sunday and had a very happy and appreciative husband. I used the recipe from Paula Wolfert's "Couscous and Other Good Foods from Morocco". The book also has a recipe for homemade warka leaves. If anyone wants to make their own, I would be happy to post the recipe.

If using phyllo leaves instead of making your own, they recommend crisping the inner leaves in a slow oven prior to assembling the pie. Phyllo is softer than homemade warka. The outer leaves will crispen during the cooking process so you only need to do this for the ones in the middle.

Yes, I think you are most of the time, but hey, your viewpoint is quite welcome. Abdel and I just got a good laugh out of the cartoon in your post.

I have read all but 23 pages of what I was supposed to read today - will read the rest on my lunch break tomorrow.

For dinner I tried a recipe for Hoo La Beef and added a bag of stir-fry veggies and served it over rice. Abdel loved it. Of course I expected that - it had sugar in it and he has quite a sweet tooth. He has the cats locked in the bedroom while the leftovers cool off so they don't get into it. He's never done that before so I'm guessing this recipe is a keeper.

Haha.. this should be on the "Man I'm on VJ when I should be working/studying" thread... When I was in school last semester, I had two choices as far as a last class went, religion, or economics, I choose the religions course, a lot more heated and a lot more fun.. lol

Today was a little boring.. but not too bad... woke up.. had breakfast.. went to the gym, worked out... stopped by the arab grocery.. got some meat and some other things and cooked up some noodle soup.. started working on some financial forms... cleaned up..

Well, I had a last minute change in plan.... bummer, I had to leave my laundry behind and go to an International Music Festival In Lafayette, LA :P (1 hr from me) http://www.festivalinternational.com/site1.php

I was convinced to go w/ some friends I hadn't seen in a while and was so glad I did. I saw an awesome Moroccan group - Mousta Largo. Actually the lead guy is Moroccan, but lives in Belgium, and the violin/doumbek player is from Marrakech. I think there was also a Turkish guy, Spanish guy, and I didn't get where the other one was from... but they were awesome. I sometimes forget how much fun Festival season is in LA. It's also Jazz Fest week in New Orleans

I'm pooped!
