Bangalore Passport Clearance Certificate

Hello!

Does anyone else have experience with the Bangalore PCC? My husband submitted his on the 15th of February (the day after the Bangalore Police Cert.), and we have YET to hear anything. The same man who came to the house the following Tuesday for Police Cert. check came back the next day for the PCC Check.

I thought I had read on here that many others have had fast success with the PCC, but a longer wait for the police cert.?! :( We got the Bangalore cert. back on the 28th of Feb as promised, but the PCC Office website says they are still waiting on police verification to continue processing?!

One thing that may make a difference is that Ritesh lived in a different section of Bangalore until about Sept. of 2007, and they said they would check there as well, but no one has ever gone to his old apartment.

It has now been 3 weeks, and we are getting a little bit antsy - what are other people's timelines for the PCC in Bangalore or elsewhere in India, just out of curiosity..

Thanks!

I wish ritesh had given a few bucks.. so the Police could mail it back to the Blore passport office the same day and so in a way the Blore passport office could have got back to passport office more faster and you could have had the PCC more sooner.

That is just it Jigi, the same man came two days in a row for signing papers and verifying address - and he got a 'few bucks' EACH day! Ritesh even let his old roommates know that they might get a visit and prepped them, but NO visit to his old house... :crying:

We are not even sure who to approach about this?! The local tiny police office by his old house? The PCC Office?

Thanks Jigi, I will have him check with the police in his old neighborhood first, then go to the PCC office with his already approved cert for our current address in hand... Since he got his passport in Delhi, do you think his application has been sent there for further checking? This is so frustrating!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Aargh - it is soooo frustrating to read about how other people got their PCC's in one or two days! :( Ritesh has his Local Police (Commissioner's Office) certificate, that went smoothly in the time-frame he was originally given - 2 weeks.

He is now back at the Commissioner's Office trying to expedite the PCC paperwork (both local addresses through the respective local police offices have been verified, etc.) and all that documentation is sitting at the Commissioner's Office waiting to be sent to the Passport Office. It has been 33 days now, and we are worried it won't get processed in time for the interview...

The person he spoke with said there were 2,000 applications waiting to be packed and shipped to the PCC office. Why is there no proper process/system for this to be done in a timely fashion?!?! I guess it is just a good preparation for going the the US and all the waiting we shall have to do for other things!

We thought we were doing the right thing in applying before we even had the Interview letter, but the DCF process has moved soooo quickly, that maybe we should have done this in December?! Sorry, just needed to vent...

hi,

I can imagine ... my wife made me get PCC 5 months ago.. because your never know with Government offices... and when it comes to India.. you are always gonna be at the receiveing end even if you have perfect paperwork. To get the PCC in ENGLISH... i had to pay 300 rs. bribe..... and 4 times i had to visit to and fro. I also had to pay fees to the Govt. Treasury for which i had to stand in a line which was long as when people get free foood. I was in line from 6 am..........

ONLY MONEY will work.... pay them as much as you can or get an influential person to intervene on Ritesh's behalf.

Thank you so much for your support Jigi... I feel like I could cry right now... We tried to take our documents to the VFS office today, but they won't take them unless they see his actual passport so they can put some kind of a stamp on it - of course, his passport is AT THE PASSPORT OFFICE, WAITING FOR THE 35th DAY TO BE FINISHED!! :crying: He has had to pay two different police officers three different bribes - so far - and HE IS NOT A CRIMINAL!! Thus far, he has spent 300 rupees on the ACTUAL PCC, and 1500 rupees on bribes... THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

He spoke to the PCC person at the Commissioner's Office yesterday who told him 'Cent percent, I will send it tomorrow.' Sorry, just not very trusting of anyone in a police department in India right now... We are more than happy to grease whatever wheels it will take to get this rolling, if we lose our interview date on the 3rd because of this, you guys will hear me yelling from the US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope I don't jinx myself by saying this, but this morning after yet another 3 hour wait in line, Ritesh got through to one of the Passport Officers, and his PCC and Passport should be in his hands at 4:00 PM TODAY!!! WOO HOO!! Ok, I had better stop celebrating until it is ACTUALLY in his hands...

The only bad thing is that it is too late to get to VFS, and they will be closed until Monday due to the holidays... Thank goodness they said it was ok to submit up until the 27th - we will have one week to not be completely stressed out before the medical, interview, etc. Time to schedule a massage appointment for my boo, he deserves it after the last few weeks! :)

Congrats, i am glad he got the passport.

The main thing in India when dealing with paperwork stuff is Money talk, you give out a helping hand here and there that's taking care of your official papework, you'll get your stuff done in a Jiffy. The guy coming to your place twice to check what? hmmm, just being a good civil servant droping by to say hello and showing concerns?

Yeah, that is one thing that I have learned in my 3 years here, money talks! The same guy came here twice from our neighborhood police station for two different Police Verifications - one for the Local Commissioner's Office Cert., one for the Passport Office Cert. And that was just for our address together! At least he approached us - Ritesh had to approach the police in his old neighborhood, or we would STILL be sitting here wondering what was going on! (We knew by the look on his face the first day that he would do his end of the paperwork fast, we just weren't counting on how many palms were yet to come that needed coaxing and greasing!)

I am pretty convinced that the money gets dispersed among a wider audience, but the guy who does these verifications must make a FORTUNE! (I wonder how much he had to pay to get his job!) The only people who did NOT ask for money were at the Commissioner's Office and the Passport Office, but the money may get funneled back to them somehow...

Over the last few weeks, we sent numerous emails to both the Bangalore Passport Offices and Delhi Passport Office HQ, and received absolutely NO replies. The phone lines were ALWAYS busy. The enquiry desk could do NOTHING for us unless the police verifications were logged in their internal system... On their website, the status always said that they were awaiting police verification until tonight when it said he had received his passport over the counter - 3 days after they actually received the police reports! (Hopefully someone reading this post in the future will get a tip about that!)

Once this whole process is done and we have our visa in hand, I think I will write a detailed post about it - with more and more people moving around the country for work, many could end up facing similar issues...

hey ,

Yes money talks... to get down the ladder and up the ladder... I had to pay to my nose..... at these times.... TIME is important for us... so we pay money ..because the jerks know we are going to foreign countries and they have a easy hand to manipulate us and make us cough money...... We dont do or say anything because we dont problems for our case and it be delayed ...... We have no other choice... unless the system changes of the Police ... or the Consulate makes the PCC optional.

Hi Carolyn,

I need some help on PCC. Did Ritesh go to the Regional passport office, Koramangala or Passport seva kendra in Lalbagh to collect his pasport PCC?

Thanks.

Jigi

Time to schedule a massage appointment for my boo, he deserves it after the last few weeks! smile.gif
