I quite liked it - but it would have been interesting to see what it would have been like if it had been left intact.

Apparently the subplot is pretty similar to that old Leslie Nielsen movie Forbidden Planet - about a monster than manifests from the negative emotional energy of one of the characters.

Yeah, I liked it too. There was talk a while ago of the "Directors Cut" but apparently a lot of the footage was destroyed or lost.

I have the special Edition DVD but haven't watched any of the extras. It'll probably be interesting to hear what they say on the commentary.

I think the ones that scared me the most were the ones I saw when I was a kid- The Exorcist, Jaws, When a Stranger Calls. It was all about the cheesy slasher films when I was a teen and now I like scary movies that have a little more depth and psychological thrill to them.

Saw The Ruins today - not bad, though the book was gorier. Funny how EVERY story about Aztecs and Mayans involves creepy rituals and human sacrifice, yet we never see a rabbi perform an animal sacrifice on film; not even when opening the Lost Ark of the Covenant. If the tourists drink the water, they could call the movie The Runs.
