Happy new year everybody!!! :)

Rachel; I loved the pictures of your wedding, especially the cake, looks so pretty and sooo good! :P It seemed like you had a great time! Congrats!

Congrats Pam on your new job!

You're so lucky. Me, I have still no news of my EAD and it's been more than 90 days now

I guess I'll have to start fighting with USCIS on Monday...

I saw that you weren't approved yet, and it sucks!

Are you going to try an infopass? I saw that you can try that once you applied more than 90 days. I don't know the process so much through!

It is true that I feel lucky, especially now with the economy! The only thing is I don't get to work full time, but I am taking anything right now! It is better than nothing!

Yes I might try an infopass depending on what the guy of USCIS tell me on the phone first...

It's nice that you start working part time though, I think, so you have time to adapt to work in a foreign country. I hope you'll find a better and full time job soon though ; )

what job did you take?

In my case, I didn't feel like I needed to adapt because, I am in the same place as where I was 2 years ago, when I did an internship in hospitality (and where I met my husband! :P ).

During a year, I worked in the dining room, was assissting our wedding coordinator or managing special events at summer time like seminars& bbqs!

That's why it was easy to be back at work so quickly, my manager already knows how I work, and don't need to train me.

I am part time right now because they isn't enough work (the resort gets busy at summer time more than winter), so I just need to be patient and wait for spring to come! ;)

But at the same time, it is nice to still have quite some time off for myself! B)

I just saw something which kind of might interest you guys...

Someone on a Dutch forum (diff site) just posted two pictures which were taken of a USCIS service center and were inside an ombudsman rapport of 2008 (it was not said which USCIS service center it was).

The guy who posted this on the Dutch forum also added a nice calculation... They get about 6 million applications per year, each file is approximately 3 mm high and they work about 200 days per year... that makes 6000000/200*0.003 = 90 meters of files each day :S

Oh well, here's both the pictures:

A loading/unloading dock at the USCIS service center:

And here is where your files get stored:

Seeing these pictures, it really makes me look like  ... it is amazing they can still track down our applications and that there are still so little mistakes then.

N400 Timeline:

12/14/11 - Sending out N400 package

12/19/11 - Received by USCIS

12/21/11 - NOA date

12/22/11 - Check cashed

12/27/11 - Received NOA

02/06/12 - Received yellow letter (pre-interview case file review)

03/13/12 - Placed in line for interview scheduling (3 yr anniversary)

03/17/12 - Received interview letter

04/17/12 - Interview - No decision, application under further review

04/17/12 - Biometrics

04/25/12 - Placed in line for oath scheduling (so I'm approved yay!)

04/27/12 - Received oath ceremony date

05/09/12 - Oath ceremony!!

That's crazy! I know we have all had our frustrations with USCIS but I guess when you put it in perspective, they are doing the best they can with what they've got.

Hey, they are welcome to come in here and mingle with us!

Well, guys, filing for Adjustment of Status has hit a snag for us. We were already to file later this month, until Alex was laid off today. He has his exit interview at the end of the week - just five days' notice, how awful!

And when he phoned his parents to tell them the bad news, they informed him his father was laid off today too.

2009 is going to be a tough year for us I'm afraid!

Well, anyway, we did have a lovely wedding and honeymoon, and I'm sure we'll be able to get through this.

08/22/2008 - K1 Visa in hand

12/27/2008 - Marriage

10/06/2011 - ROC complete

04/20/2012 - Annaleah born!
