If ur stil making payments, 1 could just leave ur Cdn bank acct open and pay it from there I guess!! RBC or TD seem to be the better banks to deal with when one is residing in the USA!! Presidents Choice (PC) wanted me to close my acct. I just gave them my parents addy in SK. But many seem to like RBC!! To transfer $$ to PC, I use http://www.customhouse.com/ It is free (electronically) and gives a much better exchange rate than the USA banks! Something else to consider

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Glad to hear Honda is pretty good then! ( I plan in importing my honda)

I still have a lein on it tho from Honda finance, has that caused anyone problems?

I have a 2004 Honda Civic that I brought down with me last July .. no problems getting the proper paperwork from Honda and it was free ... some manufacturers charge (there is a post somewhere here with the contact numbers). I was leasing it and had to pay it out before moving to the US. If you still have amounts outstanding for financing they may not let you take it with you across the boarder and if you still have warranty on it you will have to get special permission from the manufacturer for the warranty to continue once you're in the states.

All in all importing the car was a breeze .. in fact I had to ask the customs agent to give me the proper paperwork in order to register it and obtain a title. No duty paid as I owned it for longer than a year.

Met in Cleveland 07/07/05 ... Fireworks!!!

Emails and phone calls until first visit back September '05

Thanks for the info. The Honda dealership where I bought my car told me about getting the speedometer changed. They were probably hoping I would get it done there! Scammers! I am glad to hear that others have imported their Hondas without having to pay duty.
