Hi Guys, I am in Dilemma.......We registered marriage on the same day as our engagement. and then we had our traditional marriage after 3 weeks later........When my wife will go for interview, what date should see mentioned? Both or just the one when we had registered marriage????

Also, My wife's aunt (mother's sister) is in USA. will it be ok for her to mentioned that she has relatives in USA? will that effect her Interview adversely???

Sorry, my wife has just sent in the package 3.....and I'm already very nervous???? BTW how long it takes usually to get the package 4 after the sending in the package 3.

What you choose to celebrate as your Anniversary is your choice. My wife and I had a civil ceremony as well as a traditional wedding with family due to the long wait for our K1.

USCIS only recognizes the date on your marriage license so that should be the date that you file on your forms.

Which date have you already used on the forms? The date of the legal wedding (which is when you legally registered it) should be the date you have been using all along and should be the date used at the interview. If you have ever used the other date on any forms, please let us know here and maybe someone will have advice on what to do.

It's no problem that your wife has relatives legally living in the US. There is no reason to bring it up, but if for some reason it is asked, just tell the truth. :)

One more question, should my wife even mention that there's a difference in the Registered Marriage date and the traditional marriage date???? I don't want her to get her Visa rejected because of false information or something like this??? cause there's three weeks difference between the Registered marriage and the traditional marriage???

Thanks for the reply. I've used the date from the Registered Marriage all along....so I guess that saves lot of headaches.....

I have similar problem as VISH. I registered my marriage two weeks after getting married. However, On my marriage certificate, my traditional marriage date is indicated along with the date of the registration.

Something like this is written on my Marriage Certificate:

This is to certify that <my name> and <my spouse's name> have furnished the particulars in Memorandum declaring that their Marriage has been solemnized on <date of traditional marriage> at <location of traditional marriage> and that same has been registered on <date we went for registration> in Register of Marriages under <legal blah blah>........

So my questions is based on this, what date should I use on I-130 as the marriage date.

I got married on December 20, 2007 (Hindu Cermoney) and filled for Marriage Certificate on January 25th 2008. On my certificate it also states that so and so and so got married at ___ place on December 20,2007...

My point of view, you got married in court then got married the Indian way...

Hence, I would suggest to put the date listed on your certificate....

Your wife can say that you got married the legal way first and then the hindu way - - - but concern - - they would ask you why did you guys opt out to do thi?????

If you do not say, the wedding cards prove the other....

seek some legal advice.....

Go to "My Control" on top of your screen and on left side you will see "Personal Profile" tab you will find "Edit Signature" use that as a timeline....

I think... not a frequent user!
