I have been reading this site for around a month now and just got around to registering. Most of my questions

have been answered through research on this and other sites. However, a few still remain.

*If we are planning to get married by October, starting now is still feasible correct?

-No criminal backgrounds

-Plenty of evidence (pictures, engagement ring receipt, saved all our flight itineraries, etc)

-Financially able to support her

-In our early 20's, so legal to marry as well

I'm putting together the packet based on the Guides page, that information is up to date right? Also, there is no rushing available on this Visa, only certain work visas? In regards to her going for her interview, it doesn't have to be the U.S. Embassy in Canada, it can be a consulate too right?

Firstly never make wedding plans around a K-1 visa.

Yes it wont be at the Embassy in Ottawa, all immigrations visas in eastern Canada are processed through the consulate in Montreal.

Every thing you said is correct, there is no expiditing of family based petitions.

So the consulate in Halifax doesn't accept K-1 interviews? The website wasn't clear on the specifics or perhaps I just wasn't looking in the right spot.

Understandable that we shouldn't "plan" but we are anticipating sometime near the end of the year, the sooner the better obviously, but we aren't setting anything in stone by any means :)

Welcome to VJ, JZoom. When you have time, come and visit the Canada Forum. You will find country-specific information and meet some very nice people. (I'm not saying don't post in this forum. There are definitely some very helpful people here. But sometimes people post erroneous information thinking that it applies to all countries. )

Thanks for the heads up. I'm hoping to get this all together very soon. Its not a lot to do, just have to be detailed and patient. Oh yeah, since she's around 2k miles away...are photocopies/faxed of things such as Passport-style photo or forms she signed acceptable?

Passport photos and signed forms must be original. My husband (then fiancé) and I gathered all our information, then got together and completed the petition and mailed it off on one of my visits.
