Passport submission with K-1

Okay I have a question. I am submitting a copy of my passport as proof of citizenship. The K-1 instructions state that it must be a copy of all pages of a "valid, unexpired U.S. passport issued with a validity period of at least 5 years." My passport is good from May 24, 2001 through May 23, 2011. Do they mean that the passport must expire at least 5 years from now (i.e., Feb. 2013) or do they mean the total span of validity? Basically I'm asking if this is going to cause issues or not?
