How can we collect the passport the same day as interview?

I have interview on 6th March and I want to book my flight on 14th March. I read in the consulate reviews that VFS takes 1 week for delivery of the passport. Similar thread on Mumbai Consulate concluded that it is possible to collect the passport from nearest VFS same day as date of Interview.

Now the question is, can I approach VFS in Chennai and collect my passport + sealed cover? Is it possible and how many have actually done it?

Also is Gopalapuram VFS the nearest VFS in Chennai?

Thanks

Your fiance(e) may request at the end of the interview to pick up the passport at the VFS office..Its optional.

My fiancee got the passport like 5 working days after the interview and you can track the package online...

I thought there was only one VFS office in Chennai.

Careful about booking a flight so close to the interview date. What if there is some compliation like request for more evidence? What if issuing the visa is otherwise delayed?

Often if the interview is successful, people can pick up the visa at the VFS office that very day or the next day, so many people here on VJ did that. My husband had his interview on Friday morning but Friday afternoon at the VFS office in Chennai they told him it was not ready and to come back on Monday. Because he had a train reservation he left and got the visa via courier, it arrived the next Tuesday. But I have heard of it taking longer for others.

Thanks Second Stage and ELW.

Yeah. I later saw in Packet 4 that there is only onle VFS :)

Also I agree that there might arise a situation where there might be delay to whatever reason it may be. So I am not confirming my flight, just blocking the dates. Since the interview is on Thursday, I hope that I get to collect the passport by evening.
