I think Chicago Lock Box is a sorting dept of USCIS..

That is why they tell everybody who is filing I-130 to send their documents @ the Chicago Lock Box instead of VSC or CSC..

Chicago is helping with the receipt of I-130s. From what I understand, they have contractors who are using high speed scanners to scan in the applications and electronically send the info to the appropriate SC for adjudication. This is going to catch up the receipting, but it's also going to mean a huge number of apps backed up. Hopefully, the extra people that USCIS has hired are mostly working on adjucating and will start to get out from under the backlog.

I've been seeing a lot of people who filed in August and Sept. getting their NOA #1 so you shouldn't be far behind in that stage of the journey.

Chicago is only scanning in apps. They are not cashing anything or approving anyone's petition. Their job is to get you in the main system for the officers to see, not necessarily for us to log on and see our case's progress. Also their second job is to get you a receipt notice. But remember, as USCIS has actually stated, They are not in the business of issuing receipt notices.

Hey, I'm just the bearer of the news. lol.

No,I think the lockbox,is similar to "area 51"where Aliens scan the apps telepathically, very mysterious, they are on app's for November, but still the mystery exists, what do they do there? Why is there still some of us who sent apps in august and september, that still haven't got their NOA1's yet?Ask a USCIS officer, and he/she will tell you"I don't know" Are they on Novembers app's or not? No one really knows.

I believe that actual mailing addy for the chicago lockbox is somewhere in Roswell New Mexico, need i say anymore?

No truth, it is a building basically where the contractors have their high speed scanners - tis all - i actually believe it was at one time a bank like HSBC or along those lines, something like that, so right now it is just a mail stop for sorting the applications and scanning them.

After that they are sending them to whatever service center can handle the load. Do not think that your file will end up where your location should be though, it can happen, but do not count on this if you plan on filing your I-129f if applicable until you get the NOA1 indicating exactly which center you will be processed at.

Cheers
