Hey Guys I am waiting for my greencrad FBI name check but I have EAD I wonder Is I am eliglble to Apply for the Federal or State Jobs or should I have to wait for Green Card? I don't know whether I am Non-Immigrant or Immigrant. I came US on K-3 visa. I have a social security cards ( Authorized to work by DHS order ).

I-130 Petition -Timeline

10-04-06 - Petitioner (wife) sent I-130 to USCIS Vermont Service Center

10-14-06 - Petitioner received NOA 1 "Receipt Notice"

01-17-07 - USCIS NOA2 "Approval Notice"

I-129F Petition Timeline

09-22-06 - Married in India

10-19-06 - Petitioner sent I-129F to USCIS Chicago

10-27-06 - Petitioner received NOA 1 "Receipt Notice"

01-17-07 - USCIS NOA2 "Approval Notice"

I-485 AOS Timeline

05/26/07 - Submitted I-485 package to USCIS Chicago

06/01/07 - USCIS sent I-797C NOA "Rejection Notice" and returns cashiers check

06/08/07 - Called USCIS to inquire why check was returned; USCIS confirms correct fee and advises to re-submit check and I-485 package to Chicago.

06/29/07 - NOA2 "Receipt Notice" received from USCIS

07/17/07 - Biometrics appointment at USCIS York, PA

07/31/07 - Rec'd NOA4 (AOS Interview Notice)

09/20/07 - AOS Interview at USCIS Philadelphia, PA

03/04/08 - Green Card received ( Valid till March 04, 2010 )

12/24/09 - Sent Package to Vermont Service Center

12/29/09 - USCIS Received Package

01/02/10 - Received one year Extention letter from USCIS Vermont Center

01/08/10 - Received Biometric Appointment Date - 01/26/10

01/21/10 - Early Biometric done

04/21/10 - Approval letter received

04/23/10 - Green Card Received Valid- March 15, 2020

12/02/10 - Sent Package to Lewisville, Texas

12/07/10 - USCIS Received Package

01/05/11 - Early Biometric done originally 01/11/11

02/15/11 - Received Biometric letter

02/23/11 - Interview- Passed

You should be able to apply for fed and state jobs. Only jobs you cannot apply for are the ones that require citizenship.

You are a NON-Immigrant until you have green-card at that time your status will be adjusted from NON-immigrant to immigrant.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Thanks for reply. I wonder if they state/fedreral agencies ask do you have a greencard??? Because technacally gov jobs are for only immigrants. I dont know may be I am wrong.

I work for a state college, and I know that the college will hire non-immigrants with EAD, my wife was hired by the local public school with only an EAD, so yes some state and government jobs will hire NON-Immigrants.
