NVC confirms that our documents were sent to the embassy on 12/21. I have called them several times and they in fact, say the hard copies were sent on the 21st of December. The embassy (via email) is telling me they don't have them yet. I absolutely don't know what to do. I've called the DOS and they give me the run around telling me that it is probably in process.

I've done the DHL thing and there are only 3 possible packages around 12/21 including one eactly on 12/21 which says it was signed for by Volchenkova on 12/26 at 11:14 a.m. Then I know there was the NY holiday, but gee whiz........

What's the deal with the $12 phone call-----If I use a phone card is it still $12? I want to calll----and maybe I'll have to.

I am nearly berserk (the patient one you know!) because we already lost 30 precious days when our lovely CSC had our documents sitting under somebody's coffee cup for a month. I see Jason-Sasha has his interview----I'm so glad. Our NOA2 was issued nov 6. I just want to be sure they are at the embassy----any help from anybody will be appreciated, thanks, Alane & Ramzis

I just went through the same thing last month, I kept checking the embassy interview date list and not seeing her number posted I was really getting worried, as it turned out (at least in my case).

She somehow ended up with a "new" case number and had been on the list all along.

My GF called and got the answer, (new case number) I never even got a reply from my emails from Moscow.

I am told the 12 dollar phone call is worthless.

Cost to GF? about 200RP on her phone bill. (they bill it to her phone).

I am nearly berserk (the patient one you know!) because we already lost 30 precious days when our lovely CSC had our documents sitting under somebody's coffee cup for a month.

Why are you nearly berserk?

Finding out when the embassy receives your case helps in no way at all. Then all you'll have to worry about is when the interview is. If you're calling and emailing already just trying to find out when they got your case, what are you going to do to find out when the interview is scheduled for? And what are you going to do between then and now???

Look, I'm not trying to rain on your parade or tell you that you guys shouldn't be together ASAP! but what I am trying to say here is regardless of how much you call, email and WORRY about it, it's still going to take a long time and it's still going to get done.

Just chill out. And anyway, how did you lose 30 precious days? From what I've seen on your signature he's visited you here for over 14 weeks already. If anything, you gained precious time together.

And another thing.... after he's here and you've been married for a while, you may just say to yourself "I sure wish I had those precious 30 days back!"

Good luck on finding out the stuff your looking for and I really do hope your interview is soon. But in the mean time, take a hot bath, read a book, and just take solace in the fact that it is going to happen.... someday.

I can understand the worry and frustration. USCIS "conditions" us to worry and fret over our petitions because they absolutely refuse to provide timely and accurate information, not to mention the bizarre work stoppages (as is currently the case at CSC) and non-linear approvals. Granted, the NVC and consulate are not USCIS, but by the time you've spent 4-6 months with USCIS, you're pretty much conditioned to want to micromanage the process as much as humanly possible. So I can totally see where ramzis51 is coming from. Having said that, I think Slim's advice at this point is the best. The consulate is not USCIS. Your file isn't going to get lost or fall behind a desk or be used to fix the wobbly leg on the table in the break room. Now that you're past the service center it's time to break out the bubbly and relax. :)

My case seemed to take quit a bit longer than was projected. Even to transfer the Package from one agency to another took an unbelievable period.

According to prior K-1s mine was projected to come in at Nov (I think),in stead it rolled into the "new year"

Whats the big deal you say?

Plenty, guess how much of a tax credit I missed x 2

The embassy didnt give us any info until the put it into their system. We knew our documents were there but they still hadnt processed it yet. Probably in the mail room or something. But luckily it only took about a week to get to it. Try to keep in mind that the embassy was closed for a while for the holidays. They probably got a small backup of mail deliveries. They resumed regular business again on Jan. 8th. I'm sure you're only a few days away from hearing some news. Try to relax. And be thankful you are almost at the end. Its coming. :)

Thanks, Jason. I know everybody here knows the frustration. I'm sure your right. The emails the embassy is sending says they haven't received it yet---but I'm sure that means they just haven't logged it in yet. I do appreciate your empathy. I am glad you had a great trip to Russia and that your interview is upcoming in Feb. I just get to feeling so helpless.

I know that helpless feeling. Its a killer. But have no fear. You know, if you still know your old receipt number from USCIS it will also help you track your interview date. If you go to the US Embassy in Moscow website and check their appointment schedule you'll notice that the appointments are listed with both numbers. The old receipt number AND the new case number. At least for K-1 visas they are. Here's the page ..

They have the schedule finished thru March 5th. Take a good look at these case numbers and try to find yours. Good luck, my friend  Hang in there!

:crying:

Prior K-1s were projected before "the change" over at USCIS. Remember when they hiked the rates up and started all the IMBRA BS and allegedly "streamlined" the process? That has most definitely affected the process. The major effect that most people are feeling (and going berserk over) is the delays. They're far more common now and the next K-1 "projections" you see will probably be updated to reflect that change. Simply put, you were checking projections from a different system.

And in reality, you didn't really lose out on a tax credit as you weren't supporting X2 this year. Wanna get a HUGE refund next year? Stay paying single rate (or be bold and drop all the way to ZERO!) and then claim the extra two on next year's filing.

I can see where you're coming from though. If you're single all year and then slide in at the end of the year with a wife and kid, the tax return is FAT! However, like I tell all the guys I work with that encourage me to have kids for the tax-credits.... there's NO WAY you make money off that deal. Supporting another mouth (or two) even if for only a couple weeks costs way more than what you would make in adjustments if you filed with dependants.
