when Emailing london embassy how long should I have to wait for a reply?

I phoned the embassy and asked about when I should get an interview date and they said that they don't know yet they have my packet three and it seems like everything they wanted was in the packet but they don't have any more information the only thing they could do was give me an email address with a code so I should email the embassy and ask them what is taking so long. So I sent an email and have had no reply for about 4 days I am just wondering how long I should have to wait and if I should email again as something could of happened to the first.

I am sure they say 4 days or so ( thats working days ) for the embassy to reply so u should hear soon In cases where i have asked questions they have taken 4 days or so to reply me also do not send the same e-mail twice as they will delete it from thier system. On another note, I can't believe you haven't gotten a date scheduled yet! Did you list an anticipated travel date &/or wedding date on the checklist? If you have a solid date, they tend to book your interview sooner than is you write "ASAP" in those fields.

Also, when you emailed the embassy, did you get the auto-reply? My fiance emailed them once and later that same day they told him they'd get back to him in 3 - 4 days. Oddly, they called him at work the next dy, but thats another story for another day.

I hope you hear something soon!

P.S. Did you risk coming to the US for the Christmas hols?

Thanks for your message i didn't end up going to the states for the holidays i thought i would hold out its only a matter of time till i get the visa...

When i emailed the embassy i did not get an auto reply so i guess the email is just in there system some where..

Hmmm...that is really odd since London tends to be very good about this type of thing. But the embassy extortion line did confirm that your P3 was confirmed and that you are eligible for an interview? If that is the case then I'd email them once more and make sure your information is quite detailed. Many people who sent P3 in well after you (including my fiance) have had interviews conducted already, or at least scheduled.

on the london embassy web site i found this bit of information to be honest its the only thing that is keeping me from ripping my hair out

There is currently a back-log in the Immigrant Visa Unit of forms and applications waiting to be processed. If you have submitted the completed forms in connection with the administrative processing of your application, you should allow approximately three months for your case to be processed. During this period, we regret we cannot provide information on the status of the application or confirm if the forms have been received. Hi Scott,

I did the exact same thing. I sent an email on January 20th and never received a response. I allowed extra time due to January 21st being a holiday. After waiting a week and a half, I resent the email yesterday and received the same automated response you did. I thought I must have sent the first email wrong, but this can't be a coincidence. I assume something was wrong with their system or they were ignoring us. Hopefully, since we have officially recieved the message they will get back to us soon. Sorry this offers no help, but maybe piece of mind that it wasn't you that sent the email in error. Good luck with your process!
