Traveling to Mexico by Car

On I2US there was a discussion about traveling to Mexico by car due to checkpoints by immigration. They were worried about traveling by car in fear of getting deported. Has anyone experienced this or know anything about it?????

Please respond because we will be heading to CDJ hopefully this summer.

They report that some people have been close to the border traveling to CDJ and gotten deported. This concerns me because we hopefully be traveling to Mexico this summer to visit his parents and then to CDJ for the appointment. I had had never heard of such a thing, but they say they are mostly in the northbound lanes and not the southbound. Anyone have any information?

Yes...my fiance is here illegally. He has to file an I-601 waiver for illegal presence.

yes , what you have heard is true. i am working on the freeway just outside el-paso, building a bridge (mile post 8 ) and the checkpoint is in the north bound lane. they change the location every now and then. one week they will work it m,w,f, and the next will be t,th,sat. always in the north bound lane . not once have we seen them pick-up anyone. they are moved by 6 pm. best way would be to fly to el-paso and take a cab from the airport. they don't bother the cabs as far as we can tell. am going to jaurez with my wife later this spring/summer (after the bridge is finished) for my wifes interview/waiver and we will fly from washington state to el-paso anyway just to be sure.

Well we will be coming from Georgia which will be on I-20 and I-10 west all the way. So should we be concerned for that??? I mean we will have the appointment letter showing that we are going to CDJ for the interview/waiver.

As long as you have your documentation you will be fine. USC must now have a passport and the LPR must have their green card and most likely their passport also.
