I honestly don't care

The choice is Christian Theocracy versus Soviet-style Communist Hell, and you don't care??????????

People love to B*tch about politics then not vote or get involved locally. #######?

The problem I have seen with people not voting has to do with the false belief that the people cannot elect against the wishes of the jackasses and fat asses. If the large number of despondent citizens were to stand up and vote for third party candidates, it will change the extremism and bickering seen in our current two-party system.

All you need is a modest house in a modest neighborhood

In a modest town where honest people dwell

Apathy paves the way for candidates of poor quality, which in turn leads to more apathy - lower voter turnouts etc.

Ultimately, however - its simply because people want to be ruled.

Yes that's it. Great start now keep it going! I appreciate the dip$hit remark. Thank you very much Troll!

I have been raised as a Christian, then I was an atheist, and now alas I am a Christian again. But that is neither here nor there.

If all people were involved, then the debate would be healthy and representative. The problem with the third party system is that no single party ever get a majority. This leads to charges of illegitimacy, and even more bickering. The answer is to get involved in the party that is the closest to your core beliefs and principles and work to change them to what you believe from the inside. Because an party elected without a mandate will always have a hard row to hoe. Third parties always negate a mandate.

That presumes that the existing two parties will always be the existing two parties. A viable third party, can, in fact, "become" one of the two mainstream parties. It's happened before.

Our two major parties today are, as you know, coalitions... of sometimes very disparate interests. What commonality does big business, small government and low tax conservatives have with bible thumpers who seek to use the White House to establish a theocracy in America? None, yet they are all parts of the modern GOP, which accounts for a lot of the cognitive dissonance from within the party. There are similar disparate interests in the Democratic party as well, some of which are more easily aligned with components of what is today the GOP.

There is plenty of room for the emergence of a third party, probably mostly taken from the carcasses of our two rotting mainstream parties.

Take off your clothes to those you oppose........then let's have a nuking party and keep it simple.

If not, then here's a shovel.......dig.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

It happened in the UK with the creation of the Liberal Democrats (which maintains a healthy share of the vote at local elections) - and in reverse fashion with Labour (the old party of the unions) repositioning itself center right in the form of New Labour.
