My interview is coming up in January, and I just wanted to ask ALL those who were approved at their interview to list the EXACT support documents they took to prove their marriage. I'm nervous and just want to see if I have enough stuff.

So far, we have:

Joint Credit Card

Bank statement

Affidavits from family members

Letter from our landlord, who happens to be my husband's cousin (to serve as lease)

Letter saying my spouse has requested that I be added to his health insurance.

Is this enough?? What did YOU take w/ you?

10/6/06 -- Got Married!!

-----------------------------

7/15/07 -- Sent I130, I485, I765

7/17/07 -- Applications ALL received by USCIS

8/8/07 -- Notice on website saying my notices were sent back as undeliverable

8/11/07 -- Assigned date for biometrics but MISSED it (oh noo)

8/17/07 -- Walked in and was allowed to take biometric (whew!)

8/24/07 -- Lawyer gives me notices for RFE

10/01/07 -- USCIS received RFE. Cases resumed

10/09/07 -- EAD Approval email (YAYYYYYYYYYY!!!)

10/11/07 -- EAD Card Production Ordered (Double YAY)

10/16/07 -- EAD Card Mailed

10/22/07 -- EAD Card ARRIVED!!! SO ECSTATIC!!!

Letter saying my spouse has requested that I be added to his health insurance.

On top of all the general documents listed in the interview letter, we took this:

- letter from my husband's employer

- IRS transcripts for '06 '05 and '04

- 3 months worth of payslips

- joint bank statements

- joint cheque book & cards

- life insurance

- health insurance

- PG&E bills (the only one we have in both names)

- online grocery shopping records in my name, but delivered to our address

- ZIPZAR rental account showing both names

- my temporary DL showing my married name and our home address

- my Sydney RTA (=DMV) driving report showing my maiden name, but addressed to me on our home address in SF

Just go by what's in your Interview letter, point by point, and add anything you have to prove you are "combining" your lives, you are living together, you are establishing your day to day life as a couple, as a family.

Good luck!

At the time of our AOS interview, we had only been married 7 months, so we didn't have a ton of stuff, but I brought along the following:

--my husband's ID

--my passport and EAD for myself.

--updated employer letter since he had gotten a raise in salary since we originally filed

--copies of our income tax transcripts, plus an additional copy of our income tax that we filed after filing our AOS as well as copies of Jerry's W-2s for that year

--a selection of wedding pictures

--a selection of pictures of us together and with various family members since the wedding

--statements of our joint bank accounts -- he confirmed that it was for both chequing and savings. Since I forgot to make photocopies of those, he took one of them (either the earliest or the last, can't remember) since we knew that we could get a replacement copy fairly easily)

--the one bill we had in both our names (DISH Network).

--a document confirming Jerry was the beneficiary on my life insurance

--my medical insurance card with both our names on it, and my card from my doctor

--a copy of my bank statement for my Canadian bank account, which is now in my married name and sent to my Tulsa address. He asked why I still had a Canadian account (student loan payments), and once he confirmed that it wasn't a joint account with Jerry, he handed the sheet back to me.

--he asked if we had a lease agreement or mortgage agreement in both our names, which we didn't have. Jerry explained why and he seemed satisfied with that.

I had other documents with me -- basically my entire file since we began. But I kept it separate from my AOS-specific documents.

We don't have many pictures of us because my hubby HATES taking pictures. Also, we were long distance for 3 years, while I was in college. Do you think this will be a problem?

Actually I forgot to say that no one asked for the photos, so I didn't even show them. My hubby HATES photos too. Only reason we got them of our marriage is because I work in a graphics dept and our boss ordered the photographer to come to the ceremony for pics. In fact, we only had 6 photos of us in existence (over 10 years of knowing each other and over 5 years as a couple) when we filed for the K1 visa.

Long distance relationship for a long time is no problem either, they understand. And it shows all the more that it is not an only-for-green-card, quick relationship.

They are not worried about the time you spent apart in college, they are worried about what you have been up to since you got married. :) They want to see that you have an ongoing bonafide marriage and shared domicile. That is what you need to gather evidence to prove.

Yeha I;m not concerned about that. I just want to make sure we have enough documents to prove we are ok. I just hope lack of pictures doesn't present a red flag.
