Vancouver Interview Q

Hi all,

I received an email from Vancouver consulate saying that they sent out my packet 3 yesterday. So, I booked my medical in Edmonton for January 3rd. The secretary at the doctor's office told me that it will take about 5 days to get the medical results. I have read that some people who requested first available interview at Vancouver got an interview within a week or so.

I anticipate to get my checklist this week, and want to send it back right away. Should i request the first available interview (except for the day of January 3rd)? If I do so, there is a chance that I will go to the interview without my medical results being complete. Or, should I request an interview after January 14th (Jan 3 + 5 business days) so that there is a better chance that my medical results will be finished?

Thanks in advance,

A

Your medical results must be in your hands for the interview.

That is all.

You just check off medical done on checklist and send it.

Good luck with getting your interview ASAP.

The checklist simply says to schedule a medical...it doesnt specify that you must have your results in hand. Maybe I am wrong? Someone please clarify.

Your medical results must be in your hands for the interview.

Ideally, but not necessarily, at least for the Vancouver consulate. When I had my medical, a woman who was there had had her K-1 interview the day before and had been approved pending the results of her medical. She didn't live near Vancouver, and since the interview was on a Tuesday and medicals in Vancouver are done only on Wednesdays, that's what worked for her.

If you want to schedule something like the above, I'd confirm it with the Vancouver consulate first.

I thought I would have to go to my interview without my Medical results. I phoned Chana's office to see if my results were back and they said no- I was panicking because my flight was 7:00 am the next day. I asked them if they could write me a letter confirming I had the medical done and was awaiting the results. She said she would and she would phone me back.

After several hours of being very impatient, I phoned them back. At this point I thought I was just waiting for them to write me up a letter and then fax it to me. Turns out, my Medical results were there and the other receptionist I had talked to earlier was an idiot.

I was in the middle of getting ready for work for 4:00- I jumped in the car with my make up half done and raced downtown to get them. I got them and managed to get myself to work on time.

Thanks for the feedback. I was under the impression that the medical results are send directly from the Dr office to the consulate in Vancouver.

Since the Dr's office told me that the results will be available in 5 bus days, i am thinking to schedule the interview to allow enough time for the test results to be complete so i can take them with me. My thought is that i would like to get to the consulate with a complete file to get my visa while there to avoid my passport be held and mailed back to me.

But then i read somewhere that they do not give you the VISA the same day anymore and i really do not want to spend the night in Vancouver. So if this is the case, it looks like i will have to leave the passport there anyway to get the visa on it and have it mailed back. This means i will probably just get the interview done ASAP (even before the medical) and have the consulate mail me the passport back when my file is complete with the test the results.

So my question is: Do you get the visa the same day in Vancouver?

Unless the schedule has changed again, your visa will be available for pickup at about 2:30 the next day. Or you can have it mailed to you.

I think the Interviews are now being booked for the afternoon, so it is next day pick up.

Mine was booked for 10 a.m. I would have gotten mine that afternoon but I did have a problem with my medical results. Chana's office checked something off that I suffered from some type of medical condition- I was grilled on it at the Interview. I was asked about drug use and mental illness, etc. I kept answering that the only medical condition I had dealt with was my Gallbladder and I had it removed in Jan 2000. They finally got in touch with the Doctor's office to confirm and I was asked to come in the next day to pick up the Visa, so that Chana's office could fix the error and fax it back. My flight was 6 pm the next day- so that was just fine with me.

You do pick up the Medical results from the Doctors office and carry them with you to the Interview.

If I remember correctly- I was at the Lab on a Thursday to get my chest X Ray and HIV test and my results were ready and I went down to Chana's office on Tuesday to pick them up.
