The doctor we saw (Dr. Cherrak in Oran) required us to buy a vaccination at a pharmacy. I think that this was only because he was out of the vaccination. It was extremely hard to find. |

Our case was completed December 14th
NVC forwards husband's file to embassy on January 12th
On January 14th - I the US citizen received from NVC package containing:
1. Interview Appointment Letter - instructed to bring interview appointment letter with you on the date of the interview.
2. Important Notice to All Visa Applicants Concerning Vaccination requirements (lists vaccinations ) 3. Instructions on photo requirements & list of required documents.
The instructions state as follows for the required documents:
Bring with you all of the ORiginal documents (if you have not already submitted them to NVC) pertinent to your case and present them in the following order:
Valid Passport(s)
Birth Certificate(s)
Adoption Decree(s) (if applicable)
Marriage Certificate
Death Certificate(s) (if applicable)
Divorce Certificate(s) (if applicable)

Affidavits of support and evidence of prearranged employment must be less than 12 months old when presents to the consular officer.

I had emailed the Algiers embassy a few months ago to inquiry if there were any additional fees to pay at the time of the interview.........they had replied back to me there are no additional monies - all fees were paid to NVC. If this should change I will let you know.
My husband called the embassy today & he was informed that they had just received his file today (01/25/05). As of this date, my husband has not received any correspondence from the embassy or any packet. His interview date is February 1st, 2005.

DCF in Algiers, Algeria
My husband and I did a DCF in Algeria this past summer. We had an appointment for the 14th of August to file our I-130. It was approved the same day. Because we had all of the required papers, they took those as well. We had to schedule another appointment to go back and actually file the documents and for my husband to have his interview. We went back the following weekend (the 20th) and they looked over the rest of the papers, didn't ask my husband any questions, and approved us! We paid the fees and they gave us the address of the place to pick up our visa in ten days and we left. My husband called the UPS place ten days after the interview and they said they did not yet have the visa. He called the consulate to ask if there was a problem and they said that they were sorry, but there had been an error printed on the visa and they had to re-do it. No problem! It would be at the UPS office by September 9th.. and it was! My husband drove to Algiers and picked up the visa! Everyone was very nice at the embassy and very efficient. There were really no problems at all! They did not want the xray that the doctor had taken, so we still have that... they said to bring it with him to the US. They did want to see some pictures as evidence of relationship... we had a HUGE file of evidence, but just a few photos was sufficient. I think my being there at the two appointments helped, but many people have had great luck with Algiers, so maybe they are just nice! It is important to know exactly what you need and have EVERYTHING with you when you go to the appointment. They were very impressed that we were so well prepared. If not, it will take at least 3 weeks to get together all the paperwork. They are also really great about answering emails... They did want the OLD form of the I-864 and they wanted to to be notarized, but they only asked for the most recent year's tax returns... this may change, so I would check the website and email them just in case!
