With Pandemic, my wife did the ceremony and got her certificate on the interview date. No need of biometrics.
We will wait a bit for the US passport. :)

After getting in the building I had to wait about 15 minutes before going into the interview room, due to the pandemic wait times have been shortened and everything seemed quicker and smoother than when I went there for my removal of conditions interview. Once the officer took me to the interview room I was asked to verify my information and submit more evidence from the past year; after all this was done the civics test started, I got six questions right in a row so the officer stopped asking and he skipped the reading section and asked me to write a sentence that he read for me “the President lives in the White Houseâ€. He kept typing information for a name change form I asked for and he suddenly stopped and said “you can relax nowâ€. He printed out a few forms and let me know I would go downstairs for the oath ceremony.
The interview itself was pretty short, 45 minutes tops and once I got downstairs I had to wait a good 20 minutes before the oath ceremony started. In that time I was asked to sign a form that said my feelings towards becoming a citizen hadn’t changed and that I hadn’t committed anything that could prevent me from becoming a citizen in the time between my interview and then. The officers didn’t allow for my family members (husband and son) to come in for the ceremony so they had to wait outside in the parking lot. Once I signed the forms they handed me an envelope where I could store the citizenship certificate, a card that had the oath on one side and the national anthem and pledge of allegiance on the other. Before the oath ceremony started the officer read the names of all those that were about to become citizens to make sure they had the right certificates. The ceremony started and the officer explained what would happen and how the ceremony would be performed, he started reading the oath and we had to repeat it while holding our right hand up. Once we finished saying the oath the officer said “congratulations, you’re citizens now!â€, he called us one by one and handed the certificates and we were told to leave as soon as we got ours, I was first so I left first. |
