I do too. But the risk is related to travel expense, not an eventual new green card.  Preparation equals not telling any lies.  Nobody knows what, if anything, will actually be asked.

Agree there's no ultimate risk to the future of the green card as long as there's no lies,  in addition to the $$ risk, there's also a risk of being apart for the holidays if he doesn't get admitted.  IMO, that's something that needs to be considered.
