Social Security number and Selective Service

Hi everybody, I'm sorry if I posted this on the wrong forum.

I entered the U.S with an IR-1 visa and the POE stamped my passport with IR-1 stamp.

Long story short, I haven't received my social security card or my green card yet. I read and was told that I have to register for the SSS (Selective Service) and if I don't, I might be sent to jail and be ineligible for U.S. citizenship for immigrants and more things. When I want to register It asks for my social security number.

My question is. Am I supposed to register? what if my social security number took more than 30 days? I'm 25 years and 10 months

yes you are supposed to register, it does not take that long to get a ss number usually. just go to the ss office and apply for a number then when it arrives register for selective service.
