B1/B2 Tourist Visa Will Expire 1 Day after Entry

My boyfriend (Cambodian) is planning to enter the U.S. on a tourist visa B1/B2 on June 22 to meet me, but the visa is only valid until June 23rd. I didn't know how long it would take and we applied too early I guess. Anyway, will this affect the period of stay on his I-94? He is going to attend my brother's wedding, and planning to stay for about 2 weeks total to do tourist things. He has his PhD, so I don't think it will be a problem, but I'm not sure if they look at the visa, and if they will deny him to stay for 2 weeks because of the visa time period. Should we renew his visa before he goes? Thanks in advance for any help!

As per the Department of State's website:

 

The visa expiration date is shown on the visa along with the visa issuance date. The time between visa issuance and expiration date is called your visa validity. The visa validity is the length of time you are permitted to travel to a port-of-entry in the United States.

 

Therefore, it is safe to say that he can still enter the US on the last day that his B2 is valid. The CBP has the final say as to whether or not he is allowed entry and what is the maximum duration that he could remain in the US for that entry :)

Visa valid for entry on that date. Up to CBP after that.  Phd unrelated to B2 entry, bf carries proof of ties to cambodia.
