The obvious question is why African Americans dominate the bottom of the labour market. Illegal immigration is not the cause of that.

Not only do illegal immigrants compete for jobs with African-Americans, but that competition drives down wages for the jobs that are available. Harvard professor George Borjas writes:

Illegal immigration reduces the wages of native workers by an estimated $99 to $118 billion a year . . . . A theory-based framework predicts that the immigrants who entered the country from 1990 to 2010 reduced the average annual earnings of American workers by $1,396 in the short run

You are asking a logical question that they will not be able to the answer. They are just looking to pawn their agenda on onto AAs at this moment because it's convenient and helping their cause.

Can you prove this? Because I know someone who worked 3 jobs, went to school, and had a child, but never collected a single thing from the government. And many more who work low end jobs just to ensure they don't collect unemployment.

In an economically mobile society things should get better for people over time. Yet black Americans occupy its lowest rung going back decades.... And you think illegal immigration is somehow relevant here. SMH.

A reputable study by respected economists of callback rates for resumes with white- and black-sounding names backs up this point. Ross' biggest error is his specifc phrasing, while white names were 50 percent more likely to get a call back, that means that black names were 33 percent less likely to do so.

Ross made a mistake in his phrasing -- one that tripped us up as well. But his overall point remains valid and the study he relied on showed a sizable discrepancy between white and black sounding names.
