I'm from Portsmouth and home is Maine, although I'm in Upstate New York right now.

Been here a little shy of 10 years now and the better half still wonders how I don't get homesick.

Because there are few places in the world that aren't an improvement on Portsmouth

Along those lines of different vowel pronunciations... We went to the Isle of Man once on the ferry from Liverpool. Onboard were a bunch of very drunk soldiers who had gotten their first leave. The water was choppy and the ferry was tossing the drunks about. Every other word was "fookinell", a new word I didn't understand...as in "Fookin 'ell, I spilt me beer again!"

To be fair though...when I watch O' Brother Where Art Thou I had to use subtitles >_>. I knew what they were saying but it took me like an extra 3 seconds for it to sink in so it was just easier for me to read what they were saying!!

Oh man...I'm so ashamed that I knew what she was saying immediately. Most of the people on that show are from my neck of the woods . I thankfully avoided sounding like a chav at all cost!!
