Did anyone notice on their NOA2 hardcopy the numbers preceeded by the letter "A" that were above the Beneficiary's name?

Is this the assigned "A-Number" that follows the Beneficiary and goes on future filings until ...?

Larry and Maria,

Yes, the alphameric above the beneficiary's name on the petition Approval Notice is the beneficiary's A#.

But your subject line asks about the NVC Case Number?

Yes, you're absolutely. <slapping hand and wrist! bad me!>

I put a title about the NVC number and then in the text body ask about a number in the NOA2.

How thoughtless of me!!

You get the drift.

Question # 1: what does the NVC Case number look like? I don't want someone's number. I just want to know what it looks like, pure numbers, mix of A/N, letters ... and the like.

Question #2: it's been answered as the Alien Number. So I guess everyone get an A-Number, an Alien Number printed above the Beneficiary's Name in the box for the Beneficiary.

Thanks for the responses!

Lisz,

It's the case, or file, or whatever you want to call it, number that the USCIS uses to reference an alien's cases. You'll find it asked for on all USCIS petitions and applications so that they can keep each alien's files all together.

Yodrak

What is this beneficary's number for ?

Yodrak,

Is this the same as the "Case Number" that everyone's trying to find out from the NVC?

To identify him/her specifically? I was under the impression that the case number identifies the specific petition/visa application while the A# identifies the (excuse the term) alien him/herself. Like A### ### ###, beneficiary for case number ############. But who really knows?

7/27/2006: Arrival in NYC! -- I-94/EAD stamp in passport

8/08/2006: Applied for Social Security Card

AOS...

9/11/2006: Appointment with Civil Surgeon for vaccination supplement

9/18/2006: Mailed AOS and renewal EAD applications to Chicago

10/2/2006: NOA1's for AOS and EAD applications

10/13/2006: Biometrics taken

10/14/2006: NOA -- case transferred to CSC

10/30/2006: AOS approved without interview, greencard will be sent! :)

11/04/2006: Greencard arrives in the mail! :-D

... No more USCIS for two whole years! ...

I just found out they received it today and the case number begins with MOS and then numbers.

I didn't realize there was an Alien number on the NOA2; there wasn't one on the NOA1.

Our case number begins NPL and then numbers. What does it all mean, I ask you, what does it all mean! ? Probably, like you said in your other post, it has to do with the SC where the case was processed or something.

I think the beneficiary # and the Alien # are the same thing -- I think it was called the Alien # for many years and they recently changed it to "beneficiary #" probably because it sounds better.
