Hi everyone,

I was preparing my package for the NVC (I am USC filed for IR1). I did my taxes for the 2016. But I've accidentally by mistake mailed IRS tax account transcript instead of tax return transcript. WILL I GET ANY RFE or checklist?? I've mailed it like a week ago and they received it 4-5 days ago. Can I just mail the IRS tax return transcript now so they will receive it and attach to the package I sent earlier?? I am literally full of worries here now. WHAT SHOULD I DO?? Thanks for any help in advance.

There's no way of matching documents to your file unless you get a RFE. Have the correct paperwork on hand, and sit tight for now.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Just spoke to the representative. She said that I can mail them the correct transcript and include the cover sheet with the barcode so they will scan it and at the moment they review my initial package they will also be looking at the second package I sent.

Oh, the era of barcodes. Let's hope it works out. Good luck.

So made another call to the NVC and the lady said that actually both types of transcript (either it's tax return transcript or account transcript) for the most recent year are fine, as they both show all needed info (my name, total amount, tax period), but account transcript is shorter (1 page instead of 5) and it also shows if there were any amendments after filing and if I still owe IRS anything. What do you think, is account transcript going to work or I still must mail the return transcript?

Another question: was it required to send w2 with it? I didn't send it because everywhere (i864 instructions, NVC website, etc) it says that I should only include w2 if I submit a copy of my tax return form rather than IRS transcript. At the same time, another NVC representative told me that even if I mailed IRS transcript I should include w2. Does anyone know or experienced all this?

Thanks for your replies.

Hi, just wondering how did this workout for you. Did you send Tax Return Transcript in addition to what you already sent or was Tax Account Transcript good enough for you?

I sent them everything. Make sure you send them FULL transcript (a few pages, I had about 5-6 pages there) for EACH of 3 years and NOT just 1 page transcript (it's called account transcript).
