Paid the fees for the I-130's, are there going to be any more fees I have to pay? I read about a $335.00 fee for the DS-230 and I wasn't sure if this was already covered with the stuff I've already paid or if it's extra

If you're applying for a K-3 visa, it is not DCF. DCF results in a CR-1 or an IR-1 immigrant visa. However, you will pay I believe another $100.00 at your interview for the K-3 visa; plus the Adjustment of Status costs (which I sadly tell you are circa $1,000.00).

Good luck in your journey, L.

I think they are doing DCF and just have it wrong in their profile with listing K3. Their sig says they did it and paid in Honduras. :)

Yes, there are more fees. There are the medical exams (but I don't know how much they cost where you are) and then the visa fee itself - $380 USD for each visa to be paid at the interview. Then you're home free for a while! :)

DCF people do not have to pay for the I-864 application, so that's $70 you can knock off the total. Just to let you know one teeny bit of good news! :)

Good to know, I'd hate for us to go to the embassy thinking it's was all ready to go only to find out SURPRISE!!

That'll be $760 please...

Least this way I can set aside the funds so I don't look like a jerk.

Okiedokie then. The only other things to pay are:

1. Photos

2. Medical

3. Immigrant visa fee at interview in Tegucigalpa (385 USD me thinksssss)

Photos as in passport photos? If so already did that. I got new passport photos for the I-130's and had them give me 12 passport photos, so I have lots left over. That was about $5 or $10 btw.

Medical I guess will be depending on what they want exactly, but I don't think it will be expensive. I spend under $100 doing all my exams to get my Honduran res in the summer, and had it all done in a few days.

A normal doctors visit only runs you about $25.00 most of the time, blood tests depending on what it's for, in my case they had me test for STDs and drugs (found none obviously) that was about $15.00 for the labs.

I read someone say something about an X-ray in another post..

In Canada I needed pictures for my medical and for the visa, BESIDES the ones for the I-130. Supongo que Honduras will be the same. my medical was circa 250 Canadian dollars if I remember correctly. You will indeed need a chest X-ray, which is included in the price of the medical -- remember, only Consulate approved doctors can do this thingy, so check with Tegucigalpa which ones are the approved ones.

peace, L.

I emailed Tegus last night and got a reply, they sent me the packet 4 and other docs via email. I'll see if I can upload them to the forum, or somewhere else tomorrow.

Will need passport photos for the doctor, as well as the passports. It also says the passports must be valid for 6 months (no prob. there). The medical is also good for a year after it's done so I'm going to go ahead and get it done sooner than later. They give the list of places and doctors that we can use.

I've retored with a question about how long the police report will be good for after it's done.

The photos for the visa have to be just so, showing the left (or was it right) ear. That's going to take some doing for my 16 month old step-daughter :)

I also asked for more information about the proof of domicile. I own my home, have a car, pay my taxes, mortgage, utility bills and the like. I asked if these sorts of things would can be used for proof.

I've already filed for my tax transcripts, my files are all stuck away somewhere in a box. I'd have to fly back to the states to find it so this is just easier. I also got my friend at work to email me scans of my check stubs for the last six months, W2 for 2006 and all that good stuff. Once I get the numbers I can finish up the I-864. At this rate we should have everything ready to go as soon as they approve the I-130.

More good news is I make more than enough (and have for the last three years also) for a family of 3 according to the I-864P so I don't have to bother with a co-sponsor or listing my assets.

I also now have the list of doctors, and now that I know they aren't just any ol'doc I'm pretty sure they will charge a lot more. I'll post about that later I guess.

Just a note about the income - is it US based? Also, has it remained the same while you've been in Honduras and will it continue to be the same when you go back to the US? If so, that is an awesome set up you have with your employer! If not, you won't be able to rely on it for the I-864.

  • 2 weeks later...

Okay as I posted in another thread the I-130's are approved and the interview is set for January 2nd 2008.

All forms are filled out, triple checked. Getting the last of my proof of domicile stuff via email and FedEx.

Going to do the medical exams tomorrow, it's costing 2750lps ($145) for my wife and 3110lps ($165) for my daughter.

Should have the results later in the afternoon. Will try to get reports from DGIC tomorrow also but might not have time.

Found out we had to get the birth certs and marriage cert. from her home town where they were all registered because they are in forma literal. That's costing about 350lps (around $20)

But this is really cool, I submitted these on the 19th of November, and it's only the 11th of Dec. and we already have an interview date. I was told to expect it to be 4 to 5 months when I filed so this is a plesent surprise. It might had been expadited because I contacted them soon after we filed and requested packetVI and related information and told them I would be getting it all together right away so we didn't have to go after it all at the last minute. Perhaps that's why we got the fast appointment? Who knows, all that matters is we got it!

I will keep updating this thread as we go so others can consult it for information.
