Name changed at Naturalization. Did not receive the name change certificate (court order)

I was recently naturalized and I changed my name. My naturalization certificate shows my new name and I was told at the ceremony that the court order letter stating my name change from old to current would arrive in the mail.

Is this correct? Did anyone here go through this process?

Hi ,

I had my oath today and I did a name change as well. So I get 2 certificate one for citizenship and the other for the name change. I hope you will receive yours soon. If you don't you can always go to the court clerk and request a copy. I believe it cost around $10 .

I will give it a few more days and then go to the court house. I'm guessing I need to go the court house in the city where the naturalization took place. My Oath ceremony was not in one.

Received the name change certificate today, 15 days after the oath ceremony.

FYI, Since the oath ceremony was not at the court house( but performed by a judge), USCIS sends the name change petition to the court house. The court house then records the name change, signs it and sends it back to USCIS. USCIS then mails the copy to us. Hence the delay.

You can always request a certified copy from the court house. It's is $11 here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

I am contemplating a name change (I will be applying for citizenship in about 8 days) but I was wondering as to whether it'll affect the timeline. There's an opportunity outside the states for me and my wife, and we're thinking of getting the process done before moving outside of the United States.

It did not delay the process at all. It was the same timeframe when compared to other folks at Milwaukee office
