A few questions about GC application

Hello, there.

I'm currently on F-1 visa from Japan, and I got married with my husband, US citizen, in March 13th. My husband and I met in high school over here when I was an exchange student five years ago and officially started dating from January 2011. I have been working on GC application by myself and have had some small questions.

First, I will provide our joint account documantation and severel pictures of when we got married and when we went to Japan togeteher to see my family over there last new year's holiday and 2011's greeting card we made as a proof of bona fide marriage. Do you think these are enough evidence to prove our commitment? We live in my in-law's house and have no children, so we don't really have anything jointly responsible for.

Second, I have to have my mother-in-law as a financial sponsor to meet the income requirement, but her 2010 tax return has been missing. She has no idea where it is and said, "Just write the same or a close amount as 2011." Because she has worked at the same place, the same wage, the same hour for almost fifteen years, she usually makes pretty much the same amount every year. However, I was not sure if I should inform unclear information. My in-laws were saying that they didn't know any other way to know my mother-in-law's missing income infomation. Is that okay to state not exact amount for Form I-864A?

Finally, I've gotten notable copies of our marriage certificate and my hasband's birth certificate. Other supporting documantations, including my husband's W-2s, my birth certificate etc., are photocopied. I would just like to make sure if there is any other things need to be notable.

I don't have anybody who has recently done GC application living close. I'm kind of worn out and stressed, so any information will be appreciated.

Thanks so much!

I would have your mother in law order an IRS tax transcript. It's really important that the I-864 is filled in correctly, she cannot "estimate" her numbers. Here's a link with instructions on ordering the transcript: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Order-a-Transcript

Your other evidence sounds good. They know newly married couples don't have a lot of joint assets, we had about as much as you do and everything was alright. Japan is a really low fraud country, so I wouldn't expect trouble. Keep building evidence as you go along though, phone bills, if you buy something big (mattress, car, etc.) get it in both your names, and stuff like that.

Photocopies of everything are good for the AOS packet, and make sure you keep them safe so you can bring the originals to the interview with you.

Thanks so much for the info! It helps me a lot.

Here is one more question. I went to high school as an excahnge student when I was seventeen and have been in college for two years. Do I have to inform these experiences in Form I-485 Part 3 C.? I thought that was for whoever has joined in any religious or political organizations. I heard some included their school they went to, others just put "none" even though they went to school in the US. I'm currently in school here but haven't been in any club activity.

I would not add schools. My husband put the clubs he was in just to be safe, but if you aren't in any school clubs or other organizations I would just put "none."
