Hi all,

So I called up the NVC a few weeks ago, they said that they shipped the documents April 11th. I emailed the US Consulate in Vietnam yesterday (from their website: http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov/contact/ivinquiries.html ) and below is their response:

***************************************************

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your inquiry.

As of today, we have received the electronic file of this case. However, we cannot take any further action until the physical file arrives. You will be contacted shortly at your mailing address once the physical file is received at our office.

If you have further inquiries, please DO NOT reply to this email but submit your inquiry again to: http://hochiminh.usconsulate.gov/contact/ivinquiries.html. We WILL NOT respond to any inquiry sent directly to this email address.

Best regards,

Visa Information Unit

U.S. Consulate General in HCMC

Few comments:

1. What's the point of the electronic copy if you can't do anything with it?

2. They do not seem to accept phone calls or direct emails.... just correspondence to their direct website... IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING!

3. Vietnam is a so called high fraud country. This may be so. However, if you give "coffee" money, everything gets approved. I know for a fact that if you give 25k USD to the interviewer, they will issue the visa the very next day but you will have to leave the country asap and never return. So by extra steps to "prevent" fraud, do they mean extra steps to harass legit couples for coffee monies?

SORRY FOR THE RAMBLINGS... Very frustrating process. I was able to handle everything when it was Stateside. However, now there's no direct correspondence whatsoever in a country where there's a LOT of fraud.

And I love this forum, great place for knowledge and venting...

Any suggestions/commments/response will be greatly appreciated!

THANKS ALL in advance!

Oh my God! I am going through same situations. NVC sent out my case on April 08, and UAE embassy still did not received it. I called NVC they said once they sent out the case, they done with the case :bonk: . Then I called DOS they said, that is so weird, let us trace the packet and she told me call the back after one week. I know it is really frustrating.

Hang tight................I know how it used to be...it probably is still the same. Even though your petition was mailed out to the respective consulate, doesn't actually mean it went directly to that consulate right away.

I went through this process several years ago, and also wondered why it took so long.

As it was explained to me by other VJ members at that time, was they wait until there is a multitude of petitions to send together as smaller things tend to get lost in overseas shipping, and also something to the effect that these foreign consulates work these in batch's, and therefore want to recieve them as such.

Whatever the reason, it just takes more patience.

The hardest part is over. My best guess is after NVC sends it out, You probably are looking at 2-3 month wait for your fiance to get her interview, and visa within a day or 2 or3 after that.

If it's possible, have your fiance stay in the city after her successful interview, and have her pick it up rather than waiting for the mail.

Been there, and done it all before.........................waiting on Our NVC approval here myself.

To clarify the 2-3 mmonth wait time...........she/he will probably get the interview set date within a month or so.....the actual interview is likely 2 months after that. hence the 2-3 month quote.

Check with other VN members here who already have been thru this....I plan to.
