Consulate Review: Tirana, Albania
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 3, 2011
Embassy Review : hi all. i had interview September 1 2011.
should be there at 7 in the morning. passing controls (no mobile phones allowed) you get inside the walls in some sort of waiting space. metal chairs very uncomfortable, some heating device and ceiling fans, potable water and toilets are available. lcd screen goes on repeating the same video where people of different races says "i am American" and you see some procedures that are waiting for you inside. all this... while you see other people they see you and paranoid thought are twisting your mind about - will i get the visa or not. while waiting there is a Albanian Courier employee that make you fill a coupon in case you get the visa, you will not get your pass that day. the embassy send passports with visa inside to this Albanian Courier and they call you after some days, you go to Rr Mine Peza TR and get your pass in hand. 400 lek te reja if from TR. 600 lek if from any other city.
they call your name you go in at number 4. she makes you pay the visa fee. 350$ in my case. finished that and go to digital fingerprints. go back to sportelo 4 and gave all docs of support for ongoing relationship and pass. sit down while you wait for your interview. after some 10 min the interviewer she or he (there were only two americans that speaks albanian with american accent) call your name. interview starts. in my case it was very short. 3 questions: when did you first meet? what does she work in US? have u been living outside albania for more than 6 months and where? thats all. than she goes - "well it seems all your docs are ok, now you should wait for the courier to call you on your mobile and go to pick up your pass with visa" i asked - "do u know how long it will take" she answered "a week max". i went out and took a deep breath, told my brain not to produce adrenaline anymore and headed home while texting to my fiancee the good news.javascript:emoticon('')

stats:
that day we were around 30 people. i saw all people that were CR1/IR1 marriage cases get turned down cause of missing docs and specially affidavit of support issues. just a girl and me were approved that day. they are very strict for docs. you should have everything they ask. so email them or do your home works with NVC or here at VJ should be a good advise. if they turn u down they will say mostly get this doc too and get back at us. so not everything is lost. but in order to not get delayed you should do your docs precisely like they ask you.
as for K1 fiance visa this is very easy. follow the packet 3 exactly and gather all those docs for good!!!

i wish this help someone else and best of luck to all.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
