Consulate Review: Egypt
Review Topic:
Event Description
Review Date : May 19, 2011
Embassy Review : My fiancee's interview was today. I would say that the interview process was smooth and quick. She arrived only 30 minutes before the appointment. She gave the Egyptian lady her original birth certificate as requested. Then she waited for the interview was the consular.
From the very first minute till the end of the interview, the consular didn't even look at her face or see how she looks like. He was focusing on the file in front of him. She didn't hear his voice at all. She only heard the questions from the translator next to him. There was a gap like 3-4 minutes between every question. Like the interviewer will ask a question, the lady translates, my fiancees gives the answer. Then he looks in the papers infront of him for 3 minutes.
He only looked at her once, when he asked her if I was born in America, which I was not. I don't know why he looked at her on that particular question. Anyways, those are the questions that were asked.

How did you meet your fiancee? We met through family. Her uncle and his sons are my best friends here in Florida. Her cousin introduced us to each other when i was in Egypt on vacation, and we fall in love.
When was the first time you met him? We met for the first time in the late Summer of 2009
How many times or visit? 2 visits. 2009, and 2010 when we had our engagement party.
What does your fiancee do for living? I am in the limousine business.
When do you plan to travel to the US? Probably one month after the visa issuance inchallah
When would you get married in the US? As soon as she arrives. She will stay at her uncles home till we get married. Then moves to my house.

At the end, the lady told her the consular tells you congratulations, and you should receive your visa in 2 weeks inchallah.

Overall experience was good. She was treated nicely and with respect. I was worried of course, but I didn't expect a denial because our case is crystal clear. I am Egyptian, so she is. I am 35. She is 29. We speak the same language. Met through family. Been together for 2 years. So I would say it was a pretty simple case.
Thanks a lot, and good luck for all of you.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
