They messed up and filed us with Montreal despite us checking Vancouver (less expensive to travel from the middle of Canada to Vancouver than to Montreal) but that was fairly minor. The process was very long and was shortly after 9-11 so that did cause some issues. I went ahead and did a lot of the work like the medical long before the interview to expedite the process which really did help (mailed Packet #3 out the day I received it). Do as much as you can before you need to and make a lot of copies of everything. |

They didn't check our vehicle, just did the paperwork and we were in and out of the border office around 20 minutes later. Surprisingly enough they didn't check the three cats we took across the border either so it was pretty quick and painless. |

2003-10-03 - Fingerprints done $50 paid with AOS fee.
Bring the following to AOS interview:
- The letter they sent me
- My passport
- My I94 (they removed that already though)
- Medical Exam Results Form I-693 (they already have those)
- Last year rent/lease agreement bank records and tax returns for both parties evidence of joint ownership
- A current letter of employment for both Chris and I stating rate of pay and hours per week
- My spouse (petitioner)
- Evidence of a common residence and shared life (include photos)
- Affidavit of Support
My interview was booked for November 19th then postponed until December 15th because of training. I called and asked them what was up and they explained it and all was well. |

Update 06/17: I had my interview today and due to my grandmother's Native American (Canadian) heritage my application was marked, "A decision cannot yet be made about your application." But the interviewer said that he would recommend me for citizenship and that I should expect the Oath letter in 30-40 days.
03/21: We divorced in January 2007, though I was eligible for citizenship I held off until I was eligible on my own. I've now been in the US for 8 years. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
