I first met my future wife in person on October 2, 2009. I originally filed a I-129 fiancee visa in January 2010. USCIS and the NVC approved it and my wife went to her interview at the consulate in Casablanca, Morocco. In April 2010 it was denied at the consulate for the reason of "Other." "Other" is the only box that was checked on the denial form. That was all there was to read on the denial form. I was at the consulate in Morocco when they denied it. When I tried to discuss it, I thought I was speaking with consulate officers but instead I was speaking with customer service employees who merely worked at the consulate. I had to go back to the USA without my fiancee. It was very traumatic. SO, on my third trip to Morocco to see my fiance, we were married. We were married on October 3, 2010. On the third trip, 3 days before we were going to get married, her oldest brother died. I went back to to the USA and filed the I-130. I received a notice saying they received the I-130 on November 22, 2011. (Incidentally, three months after that, I got a letter from USCIS saying that they denied the fiancee visa because I had not met her in person. Which obviously I had, twice. So basically I never got a valid reason as to why it was denied.) Now, I am waiting for our I-130 to be processed. The website says that the average wait time is five months. It has now been 6 months and nearly 3 weeks. Today (June 3, 2011) I called USCIS and they gave me a referral number and said that within the next 30 days I will get an answer as to why it is taking longer than "normal" to process. It has been torture, but we will both do whatever it takes. Please just tell us what else it will take!.....well a year later it all went smoothly. The whole process sucked but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat if I had to. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
