Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 25, 2010
Embassy Review : August 24, 2010 - This is the day that the Lord has made! And now my heart is rejoicing and celebrating for at last the most awaited words VISA APPROVED was granted!

Here's my account of what happened this great, awesome day:

5:45 I arrived at the US Embassy grounds, there were already a very long queue, i joined it bu only to realize that it was for the 6:30 appointment. The guard told me to go back to the waiting area until they call for the 7am appointment. Ok, i was excited, nervous and hungry, all weird emotions mixed-up LOL!

I don't want to wait standing at the waiting area so i decided to go to the nearby restaurant to have some breakfast, but funny i even wasn't able to finish my small cup of coffee LOL..I dont knwo how much time did i spend in the restaurant but when i go back to the USEM the queue was already for the 7am

I immediately joined the queue, my id (BIR TIN ID) and appointment confirmation was already ready to present to the guard so it didn't made any hassle for me.

6:45 I entered the USEM Immigrants Division and got number 7012, instructed to take a seat and wait for my number to flash on the auto-queue board

my number flash 7012 to window 26 - my turn to appear to the Pre-screener. A filipino lady was there on the other side of the glass partition, I smiled to her and greeted her Good Morning...she smiled back and greet me Good Morning, asked my name, DoB..the conversation goes as follow:

Me: Good Morning Ma'am (with a smile)
PS: Good Morning! May i know your name please and Dob?
Me: I'm Glenny blabla, Sep 12, ____
Ps: Ok, do you have your BC, Cenomar and NBI with you?
Me: yes Ma'am (gave her the documents)
PS: Who is your petitioner?
Me: My fiance Alvin blablah
PS: Where did you meet?
ME: Online....
PS: When was the last time u saw him
ME: March 2010....when he came for a visit
PS: Do you have pictures? Emails?
Me: Yes Ma'am (gave her the pics and the emails, chat logs, video call logs)
PS: What does your fiance do for a living
ME: He is a product specialist in a pharmaceutical company
PS: WHAT?
ME: He works for ...... as a product specialist
PS: Oh,OK...Can i have your affidavit of support?
Me: Yes Ma'am (hand her the 1-134 form, irs receipts, employment letter, paystubs in one go)
PS: oh, very good
Me: Thank you Maa'm...I also have here the cards and some receipts and letter of intent to marry from my fiance (giving her the documents)
PS: No, its ok...just keep those....
ME: Oh, ok
PS: Have you worked abroad?
Me: yes ma'am
PS: How long?
ME: 11 months
PS: ok....you can go back to your seat now and wait for your number to be called again
ME: Thank you Ma'am

So, just like what the Pre-sreener said, i went back to my seat....chat with the other ladies, babysit the baby of the lady sitting next to me...chat chat chat..what a nice way to kill time and forget the nervousness while waiting for the number to flash again on the screen. I was busy chatting with the lady who was telling me her love story when the paging system call my name to go to window 16 for finger-scanning...it was quick...was asked to go back to seat and wait for the number to be called again for the final interview....

Now, the waiting is longer...there was somebody who took the seat next to the lady who was telling me her love story so i need to find another seat...as im a natural conversationalist and educated to be one LOL (masscomm grad)i found another lady to tell me her story...but that didn't help my nerves to calm down coz she's telling me how nervous she is and she was once denied...OH no..please Lord, denial is not for me. But i keep on listening to her....it was really a very very long wait....its 11:30 and im not being called yet...im hungry, sleepy but most of all nervous LOL...if you know what i mean....LOL!

At last, my number flashed on the board again. 7012 to 31....i immediately go to the cubicle. Closed the door as instructed....and the young, good looking american smiled to me and greeted me.

CO: Good Morning! How are you?
Me: Hello Sir, Good Morning, Im good Sir, thank you...how about you Sir? (I don't know what lead me to ask that how about you sir question but i guess that started to calm down my nerves LOL)(gave my sweetest and winning smile LOL)
CO: Oh, im fine...so can i have your name please?
Me: Im Gleny blabla
CO: very good...will you raise your right hand and take oath that you're going to say nothing but the truth
Me: yes Sir (take oath)
CO: What's you fiance's name?
ME: Alvin blahblah
CO: Looks like he enjoyed his stay here....looking at our pics
Me: Yes sir, He definitely did..(smiling)
CO: very good (gave back all the pictures and emails, call logs)
Did you worked abroad?
Me: Yes Sir, i worked in HK for 11 months. I understand that i needed the HK CNCC so i ordered it already and i called the HK police, they said it was sent to USEM Manila already. I have the CNCC reference number and the mailing tracking number
CO: Excellent! So you promise to marry Alvin within 90 days of your arrival to the US?
Me: Yes Sir! I surely will!
CO: Perfect! Your Visa is APPROVED! wait for your name to be called for another instructions
ME:Thank you Sir! Thank you so much!
CO: Ok, have a great day!
ME: Thank you Sir! God bless you!
CO: Alright, God bless you and have a great day

I know i can't keep myself from smiling....sit back and waited again...i know its another long wait but it was a happy wait

My name was called to go to WINDOW 38, i saw a blue slip....i was nervous again..in my mind "why there's a blue slip"....but oh ok....its not for me...the man on the window 38 gave me a sheet to fill up and go to air 21

I went to air 21, i gave the form, waiting for her to tell me how much to pay....she said its ok now Maam, this is COD..i said, ok, so can i go now? The air 21 lady replied, yes ma'am, we'll just send you your tracking number

5:20PM i received a text message from air 21...."Air 21 would like to inform you of your tracking number for MNL2010####### is 160#########. To track its status log on to www.air21.com.ph"

Aug 24 is a great great day! Its a day of victory for me and my MAHAL! To all vjers thanks so much! God is great and greatly to be praised!!!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
