Consulate Review: Guangzhou, China
Review Topic: General Review
Event Description
Review Date : July 26, 2012
Embassy Review : The conversation at the embassy went like this:
My answers were a little more detailed, but for privacy sake they are abbreviated.
1. Give me the photos.
2. When did you meet? A: 3 years ago
3. How did you meet? A: On a website
Then she started to read my profile. My birth evidence, unmarried evidence, no crime evidence.
4. Has he ever been to China? A: Twice.
5. Where is he now? A:
6. Are you a communist? No.
7. Have you ever been abroad? No.
She was about to call the next person by clicking the next persons number, then I knew she was going to finish our interview, so I asked her, I have my chat logs and emails dont you want to see. She said she didn't need them. She said you will get your passport and visa in 1 week. She kept my passport and she gave me a white paper.

Such a relief! Overall a good experience, but I think it was because I had all of the paperwork and didn't trigger any flags. There were a lot of people who were there getting pink slips that day so I was worried, but when I talked to them in line I saw many didn't have the paperwork at all. One person didn't even have the application filled out and was asking for me to translate for them in line! I don't think they had a good day at their interview.

Do not lie because the officers are looking for the truth and will verify answers to make sure you are not making them up.

I give the experience a 4 and not a 5 only because I was waiting for 3 hours and was sooo nervous the whole time since everyone else was getting pink slips. But the interview was quick, and in the end painless.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
