Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines

Event Description

Embassy Review : Got there early. Between 5am-6am appointment was at 7am. Everyone that was there at the embassy, the security guards, the prescreener, the consul were all very nice contrary from what I have read here. The process was very quick, each person I had to go to only took 15-20 minutes it was the waiting that took forever. The prescreener accepted our co-sponsor. They didn’t look at any letters between us, skype calls, text messages, emails, NOTHING! Kind of a bummer since we spent a lot of time and money on gathering that evidence, but oh well. All the prescreener wanted to see besides my documents and the affidavits were our pictures and that was pretty much it. The consul was an American man who spoke in Tagalog. That was kind of funny. Just like the prescreener, he didn’t ask for anything except pictures, nor did he ask any questions about our relationship like how we met where, etc etc. Strange. The prescreener didn’t ask anything too? The only thing they were focused on were my papers and the affidavits. The CO just asked what degree my fiancé and I have from college. Of course he asked other questions but just very basic questions like my birthday, her birthday. I wonder if my fiancé did that good of a job in preparing the i-129f packet and validated our relationship was genuine from the beginning, therefore neglecting my evidence haha. The CO then typed something into his computer and said “congratulations, your visa has been approved” that caught me by surprise because I thought it was only the beginning due to his “basic questions”. he then instructed me to wait outside for shipping with air21. I forgot my fiancés request to pick up the visa, and once I was at the air21 booth there was no way out of going for delivery. My visa arrives today 6/16/2010 according to tracking with air 21. 6 days after interview, 3 business days excluding Monday since it was a holiday. Overall the process was pleasant. Only 1 thing
I noticed at the embassy, which is not the embassy’s fault anyways, but a number of people going in for interviews weren’t dressed professionally or presentable at all? They were dressed as if they were just going to buy soda from their neighbor? I have nothing against it personally, but I just thought they were kind of strict about it because i read a number of posts stating to dress nice at the interview.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
