I was not at the interview. The following is my SO's description of what happened. She arrived at the consulate at 7am and lined up in the immigrant line(the security guard will announce which line to go into, there were 4 lines total). At 7:30am the security guards started to let people in. She was directed with the rest of the people to the 4th floor. She went through a security check and had to hand in her cell phone. She was directed to the interview area and everybody has to recite a US vow. She was called by name to get her interview number. Then called by number to get fingerprinted and then called by number to hand in her paperwork (financial support, single certificate and birth certificate). Wait again and called again by her number to be interview by the SO. The VO was a very nice african american woman. She asked my SO when did we meet, where did we meet, what does she do for work, when we got engaged, and how we comminucate(not language but webcam site). Very professional, very easy, great experience. We were very nervous but we did frontload our petition with a lot of proof of our relationship. Recommended for Guangzhou.

I arrived at ORD at 3:30pm. My SO's flight arrived on time at 4:13pm. I stood at gate B. I waited and waited and waited and waited. WOW, was I getting nervous, I did not know what to do. I called my sister and parents and the told me to relax and wait. There was sooooooo many people there waiting for their friends and loved ones....unbelievable!!! Finally at 6:35pm she came out of the exit. I was overwhelmed...my baby arrived!!! This is how my SO described what happened. There were at least 200 people in front of her, probably more. When she finally got to a customs agent this is what happened: my SO handed in her paperwork and passport, he opened up the bag and asked her if she was to US before, what was her profession, what was my profession, where did we meet, how old I am, where do I work and where I was waiting for her. and that was it. Very simple, professional and courteous. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
