Consulate Review: Mumbai, India

Event Description

Embassy Review : My wife stayed at the swaminarayan mandir across from the VFS office. She got to the VFS office and got on the bus that takes them to the embassy.

Then came the security check. Then the fingerprinting. Then she waited till her name was called by the pre-screener. She was asked these questions (as much as she could remember):

when did u get married?
how did u come in contact with husband?
what attracted you to marry him?
is this ur first marraige?
have u been outside india before?
where is your husband living?
Where did you go for honeymoon?

Then she waited for around 2 hours for the interview with the CO. The CO is behind a glass window. The prescreener was also present with my wife. She signed the DS230. Then she was asked some of the same questions as the prescreening. Additional questions asked are below:

How do you two keep in touch?
husband's personal history about how he came to the US?
husband's parent's history about how they came to US?
Husband's education history
Husband's job profile
What have you studied?
What do you intend to do in US?

Finally, the CO asked her to show the wedding album. He wife flipped through the entire wedding album.
The CO then said your visa is approved!

She was out of the embassy by 11AM.

good luck!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
