POE Review: Tampa
Event Description
Entry Date : 2012-02-11
Embassy Review : Tampa was a very stress free and easy Port of Entry. A long and unfortunate chain of events led to me putting my immigration package inside one of my checked bags by mistake which also led to me fretting that I would most likely be insome serious trouble as the package clearly said "Do not put inside checked luggage" however, luckily the way the international terminal is set up at Tampa, the luggage carousel is literally right behind the immigration officer's desks and I expressed the situation to the officer as best I could and was very much relieved to find out that it was a big deal especially as my bag was coming around at the same time and I pointed it out. It coincidentally was the first time apparently that, that particular IO had a K-1 case so he was incredibly nice and the entire process lasted only about 35mins since I got to the desk. After I had gotten permission to get the document, we sat down for a little, then got invited into secondary where I only waited for little and then I was handed my I-94 which had a 90 day expiration on it. They congratulated me and wished me all the best. The airport itself is also pretty nice with automated trains and nice clean terminals. I would definitely recommend it to anyone else. If I had gone through Miami or JFK, being way bigger airports with extended facilites between immigration and customs my goose would definitely had been cooked.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
