Comments : Irina worked abroad in Egypt for 1 year, so she has to obtain a police report from them as well. This is done through the Egyptian consular. Will post how long this process takes.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3554.html

So Irina went to Egypt. The consular in Kiev told her to go to her old city she worked in. They gave her the run around and kept sending her to another police station. The solution was to go to Cairo, where she got the police report the same day. She had all her papers and fingerprints with her. The hotel contracts and statements as well. Those papers have to have a hotel seal placed on them or they are not official.

Original interview date was 2009-12-18, but there was a blizzard and she could not make it. Rescheduled to 2010-01-19, but after appealing they moved it up to 2010-01-05.

She said the medical and interview were very simple. Waited 3 hours for the interview and then had 15 minutes and was approved. She said everyone was very nice. It took almost a week to get the visa, but this is partly because of the weekend and Christmas holiday.

Comments : Did the physical exam and she tested positive for TB on the skin test since she had the BCG vaccine already. This vaccine is made from TB so you always test positive. x-ray was negative, but the doctor followed the book and suggested 9 months of treatment that can damage your liver. Since it is not active TB, we declined. She did not have any vaccination record, so we had a blood test to avoid shots and they came back that she had everything. All we needed was a Tetanus booster shot.

Had the interview and we got lucky and got a grumpy worker. Whole thing took 30 minutes. They wanted all the proof of relationship information we had in the I-129. They said they did not have that information since it was another agency. They wanted any doc showing you together... bank accounts, health insurance, credit cards, social security card, email, skype logs, receipts for anything for the wedding, lots of pictures (print on normal paper since they will keep them), etc. They never even mentioned the TB issue that the medical examiner tried to scare us with. She asked her her address, phone number, was she arrested before, etc. She did not make us interview separately, though we did see that happen for a couple of people.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
