Local US CIS Office Review: Detroit MI

Event Description
Review Date : September 21, 2011
Embassy Review : Hi guys
first of all, I want to THANK YOU heart.gif for this website and for all of you guys in here so much for all the information. We started with 'no clue' , Google-ing if we can find any information somewhere. We just don't want to spend $2,000 for the lawyer, and we truly believe that it is the way to do it ourselves. and 'yes' WE DID IT !! good.gif

back ground, I came here in US with J-1 visa in June 2007, met my husband and we start dating since October 07, My DS expired June 17, 09, we got married June 30 blush.gif (in Hawaii kicking.gif ) and file for AOS about mid-July after got the certificate. well, everything went well, smooth , no problem at all.

we had our interview yesterday in Detroit, at 1 PM. we got there about 10 minutes early. after put the letter at the window NO.8, wait for like 10 minutes. then the guy called my name. He is kind of old (maybe 60 ?) we followed him to his room. after we sat down he told us that our paper looks good and he going to approve biggrin.gif so, he took my I-94. (funny that, I was worry I keep asking him twice "are you sure I don't need that?" He smiled and said "yes, you don't need it anymore". I was going to gave him my EAD, he said keep that just in case my employer want to see.
Then, he just ask what we have for him to put in the files today, we only had one folder (just original document stuff), 2 photo albums (wedding pictures and pictures of us since we dating) and copy of the package that we sent, that it. only new thing that we had for now is joint bank account. I gave that to him. (we a little worried before though, we didn't have a letter from my husband employer (said on the NOA). we didn't have that in the package either, we think that only taxes return and pay stubs should be enough. and it is enough. IO never ask anything about his job.

Then he swore us in, check some information in my I-485. and here what he asked,
- How we met and when?
- how many people in our house?
- what He like to do and asked my husband the same what I like to do, he answered that I like cooking , so IO ask what we have for dinner yesterday?
- Is my husband met my parent? and ask if I know his parent? I showed the IO our pictures that have me with his family, so he asked all the name of people in the picture.
then he looked at all those pictures, (seem like he just like to look at that , not really ask anymore questions)
then he tell us how the green card work, what is a condition green card, he gave us a paper with information about it. and said we should expect the card soon!
*** one thing I just noticed, he did not stamp my passport***
that it, we said thank you, he walked us out and we was smiling walking out, and we just said to each other that 'humm, that was easy' luv.gif

oh.. and when we got home, I check on USCIS website, here what our status says "On October 8, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you." That's pretty good up to date, isn't it.

alright guys, I am normally not post much, (My English not that good so I am apologize if anything wrong tongue.gif ) we got so much help from the forums and website and that because we share an information. I hope that this post will have some little help for people that adjust status from J-1 like me, or going to have an interview in Detroit. good.gif
Thank you heart.gif
Harassment Level : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
