Consulate Review: Chennai, India
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 17, 2010
Embassy Review : Reached the consulate at 7-45hrs,waited for our turn for the security check. All documents were scanned and we were allowed in. We were asked to go to the adjacent block. As soon as we entered the hall we were asked for the interview letter. We were called around 9.40hrs for the pre screening at counter E with the local staff. Documents were verified by him and I was asked to handover the originals which I had taken. He asked questions and noted few important points, the pre screening interview took almost 40 minutes. My husband's pay slip, tax documents,my birth certificate were reviewed.

We were asked to wait in the main hall. The file from the local staff was sent to the US staff for final interview. In the meantime I was called for biometrics.

Around 11hrs we were called by the US staff at counter 10.
She checked the documents and asked few questions like how we met first, when did we decide to get married and my husband's travel dates during the last one year. His work information and why did he go to the US?She said "I dont see any problem" ..

The final interview took 15 minutes and she said congratulations your VISA has been approved and will be sent by couier.

We came out of the building around 11.20 happily and my husband was waiting outside in hot sun.

Overall it was smooth except for long waiting time and people waiting outside in the building. We received the passports with the envelope for travel by courier in 2 days.

Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
