Consulate Review: Norway
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 22, 2011
Embassy Review : I showed up around 7.50 am (the appointment was 9 am) since I wanted to be there early. After waiting 10-15 minutes on the outside I was lead through the security and then into a "waiting room" were everything happen from giving them my passport, they going through my case (I was told they had been very busy and hadn't had the time to go through my case)and having someone asking me a few questions, say an oath on everything I submitted in the documents was true and let them scan my fingerprints.

The people was very nice and friendly, including the security guards and except from the security guards everything was in English.

I was told they had to do a background check on me, but unless they find something wrong (which they didn't expect to find)my visa was approved and I would hear back from them in a few days.

From what I can remember, the questions was:
How did you meet?
How do you communicate?
When did you start talking for the first time?
Tell me about your spouse's family
Is her siblings older or younger than her?
Why are you moving to the US and not her to Norway?

I brought with me evidence for email conversations, phone conversations and pictures, but none of it was asked for even if I had them with me in a plastic bag all the time I was there.

Around 9.40 am I walked out of the embassy, so the entire process went pretty smooth.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Minneapolis/St Paul
Event Description
Entry Date : 2011-07-15
Embassy Review : I arrived at the airport, got in the line for visitors. When I arrived to the custom guard, he said, immigration visa which I just replied, yeah. Then he told me they needed to process me and told me to get into this other room which I did.

Then I presented my case to the lady inside the room which also was nice and polite. She opened up my case right away, took my fingerprint, I signed to pages and she stamped my passport and welcomed me.

The entire process I think didn't take more than 15 minutes. All in all, a very positive experience.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
