Embassy Review : Interview Date 9/22/09

It was really Amazing how well organized they were at the Manila Embassy. We arrived at about 7am, and it was raining. The line extended back about 100 feet past the covered walkway but luckily my wife noticed that that was the line for Visitor Visas, The Immigrant visa line was much shorter. Once inside we proceeded directly to the Visa processing area with lots of blue chairs where we had to sit and wait until our appointment time, which was 8:30

Just before 8:30 Emi went to the first Visa window and got her number, then back to the blue chairs. There’s what seemed like a couple hundred chairs in a big room facing an area with lots of bank teller type windows. There were 16 screener windows and some rooms on the right side for the final interview.

Screens everywhere were displaying the numbers being serviced and also there were displays over every window showing which number was up at the window. There also was a woman walking the floor making sure everyone got to his or her window.

We waited about ½ hour before they called Emi’s name for fingerprint Scans. That process took about 10 minutes, then back to the blue chairs.

We were called to Screener at about 9:30. The screener was a very polite and professional Filipino man. He spoke to my Wife in Tagolog and spoke to me in English

Screener questions:
For Wife
What is your name?
When is your birthday?
Have you visited any countries outside Philippines?
Were you a tourist or did you work?
How many years did you work?

For Husband
You are the Husband?
When did you arrive here in the Philippines on this trip?
How many times have you been here?

After the questions the Screener asked us if we had any Pictures. That’s all he wanted. After all the hours I spent gathering support info, nobody wanted to look at it, hehe. The screener asked if he could borrow our photos and asked us to sit and wait for our number to be called.

Another hour and our number came on the screen for Final Interview. I believe he was an American man, lat 20’s or 30’s, polite and professional. He had us raise our right hands and swore us in.

Final Interview
For Wife
How long have you been married?
How long have you been together?
Where did you meet?

Husband
When did you arrive here in the Philippines on this trip?
How many times have you been here?
When did you retire?
Do you have a job waiting for you?

He looked at our Pictures; gave them back and did some scribbling on our file.

He said, “Well the Visa is approved, go sit down and they will call your Name”

Five more minutes of waiting, called to Window 37, Pink Slip!
The man said “Go pay air 21 for the delivery and go home to wait for your visa.

Left Embassy, had lunch at Yellow Cab Pizza.

Thanks be to God!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
