Consulate Review: Sydney, Australia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 24, 2008
Embassy Review : Appointment was for 8am so got there before doors opened. Lots of people waiting also. Went through initial security screening had to leave bag(Aussie cast of The Biggest Loser was there!!) and because of K1 Visa was able to go up to next level without having to wait to be interviewed there. Went up to next level and through another security screening. Got number for my visa (was a bit confusing as sometimes K1 visa's are considered immigrant visas and and then non immigrant visas)as an immigrant. Got the first number for the day...yah!!
Staff member called me to window and they were extremely friendly and courteous and made the whole experience fantastic. Handed over all my required paperwork - make sure you have all your paperwork in order and ready to go. Was asked to take a seat while they looked over paperwork and advised me that I would be called up again to another window for my interview.
Waited about 5 minutes then was called to another window where I was asked by the staff member whether I had been to the States previously and where I was intending to live in the States. That was pretty much it. Advised me that the visa was approved and that I would get my passport in the mail in the next few days.
Whole process took only about an hour!!
BTW...when sitting waiting to be called to the windows check out the awesome views of Sydney...just beautiful!!
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: San Francisco
Event Description
Entry Date : 2008-03-02
Embassy Review : Long delays as have to go through general line with everyone else. Officer was friendly and asked a few questions in regards to my fiance. Told me to make sure that I was married by the date set on I-94. I noticed that in the envelope that I had to carry was all of our paperwork.
Did not get EAD at POE.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
