Comments : The process only took 10 minutes at most. I came into the country with my wife and therefore went directly to the US Citizen line at JFK. The officer stamped my passport, then opened the package they gave us at the embassy, look briefly at the documents and just asked me one question. Then he went ahead and stamped her passport and directed us to the office where we waited 2 minutes and my wife had to sign and get her finger print. The whole process was great!

POE Review: JFK
Event Description
Entry Date : 2009-06-06
Embassy Review : We arrived at Terminal 4 at 5:15 AM on Saturday. We arrived at the "Immigration Hall" and went directly to the US Citizen line since I was traveling with my wife.

There was NO line at all, handed to officer my passport, her passport and the envelope they gave us at the embassy.

The officer went ahead and opened the envelope, looked at the paperwork briefly, asked me what I did for a living and that was it. He went ahead and took my wife's biometrics and indicated that NOW ALL Green Card Holders will have to go trough the Biometrics process every time they come into the country.

After about 3 minutes, he walked us into the room at the far end of the hall. We were asked to leave our carry-on luggage outside and an officer took our paperwork. We were asked to take a seat and within 2 minutes were were called to the back of the room where the officer asked my wife to sign and get finger printed.

The WHOLE immigration process took about 10 minutes and was a great surprise for both of us. I was expecting at least a 1 hour process but luckily that was not the case. There was 0 harassment and ALL of the officers were helpful.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
